I had the pleasure of dining at lunch with Jocelyn Taxil, owner of Le Frog, today.
Here she is pictured with her rescue puppy, Ulan.
"The family is most important. The feel of my team being important to me & how we all treat our guests. We're very kind and friendly with every one of our guests & we're all that way. Emilie is my daughter and she is the chef always at lunch. She is very aware of being a much giving person and sharing her creations with the guests. That is of the most important as she receives pleasure in that. I would say, above all else, that is what my restaurant is."

Emilie prepared the fresh catch of the day for both her mother and me for lunch, which was a delicious pairing of two fish from the Mediterranean Sea on a bed of pasta with freshly sauteed vegetables.

                                             SIMPLE
                                Elegant, Sophisticated
and the flavor of the fish exquisitely preserved.

"Yes, the restaurant has frog legs," laughs Jocelyn as I ask if they keep in line with the name. "While the original owner from 60 years ago named it Le Frog, we kept the name and since I eat frog legs once a week here, we continue the tradition."Image
"We have escargot, too, and many people ask for both. I would definitely say the menu of Le Frog is Mediterranean, though, with an abundance of fresh seafood from our coast. My daughter learned the recipes from my husband, who bought Le Frog in 2011, and now she calls our dinner chef sometimes with little suggestions she wants to try. They go back and forth with enthusiasm, and I must say that being their taster is my funnest job," laughs Jocelyn, who admits to me that she, herself doesn't know who to cook!
There are frogs everywhere in the restaurant, playful, yet elegantly designed with vibrant colors by the artisans of Nice. The restaurant is a juxtaposition branching off of the designs; simple, yet elegant; sophisticated, yet friendly. It is a lovely cozy experience with the highest service and fare. An absolute must and legend of 60 years in the city of Nice, owned since 2011 by the Taxil family. Image
