SEF KEMAL is reinventing the Conceptual Image of a Turkish Bistro

You know you're pretty good when the Royal Family of Qatar, here with Chef Kemal, represented by His Excellency the Ambassador of Qatar, Nasser Ibrahim Al-Lenqawi, visits you.
    Sef Kemal address:
 Jugoslavska 599/18,
     Prague 2-

His Son, Eren, tells me that Kemal, "Has too many ideas. So many dreams & he is always creating something that I can't get a grasp on how to focus!"
I laugh & say I know the feeling. I ask Eren if he would like to see his dad on Master Chef & he starts laughing now, "No Way. Way too competitive! Image

Actually, Master Chef invited him on, which is top of the top, but he told them he was too busy!"

"See what I mean? I am trying to be the young creative; branding his image, but top chefs always think they're right about every idea!"

Well, Look at Gordon Ramsay. If you the best, you're the best!
     I try, though.
I ask Kemal what he loves about his place, he replies, "The Food."
Okay, but what is the image you want people to know?
Very seriously he responds, "The Food."
OOOkay, then he jumps up, says, "I have to get back to work." Off to the kitchen.
Me & Eren start giggling, looking through photos & videos, planning our branding of Sef Kemal for the year. Different Set of Creatives!

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN HOW THEY
         REALLY MAKE THE KABOB
                               THAT
YOU SEE? HERE IS HOW THEY DO IT!

30 Years of Experience in Turkish Cooking, an Elegant Much Desired 3-year Mediterranean Turkish Ristorante, Bageterie Boulevard featured chef for 4 months, invited to MasterChef & turned it down do to being too busy! He is a treat & now has opened his own Bistro that translates to "Little Sef Kemal".
Address: Opletalova 928/20, Nové Město, Prague 1.
Photo
If you ask Chef Kemal what is fun about his job, he says, "Fun! It is work. I focus on my Food. My Culture. My Ingredients. I don't have any fun!"
I laugh & tell him now with the Bistro he must try to have fun.

     Eren says, "We're evolving."

"Every day he is trying something new. He buys the steak, slices the beef very thin, puts it layer upon layer on the spike of the Doner Kabob, and you eat real pure steak only on a spindle. Ours is the best you can have in the world."

SO How IMPORTANT is the KABOB
  in Instanbul?  VERY.
It isn't food, it is a way of life,

       An ESSENTIAL Culinary ART.
   Kabob is actually considered the
       Cornerstone of the Culinary                                        Staple
                   of Istanbul.

It connects Istanbul to its roots of Eastern & SouthEastern Anatolia reflecting centuries of OTTAMAN heritage.
So, Sef Kemal wanted to introduce a place where families & tourists taking in the many kilometers of walking the city of Prague could come in, have a taste of Turkey & enjoy a REAL KABOB.
    Directly from Istanbul!

Catering – Sef Kemal: Authentic Turkish & Mediterranean Grill
Sef Kemal even has catering, which comes as a surprise said no. one ever.
                                                      Isaac's BBQ

                                             Located at Jungmannova 10
Meet the team of Isaac's BBQ, including the Boss: ISAAC
                                                           Vrata & Isaac
"If you know New Orleans, my Boozy Milkshake or Proud Mary Bloody Mary or Gigi Tequila & green apple cocktail, is familiar to you. But for all the people around the world that I would love to introduce New Orleans BBQ with my New York Fusion Recipes, it could be your first introduction to spicy exotic flavors that represent my mix of culinary experience."

Photo of atmosphere
"After working in Michelin Restaurants in New York, many years, I decided to take a little time for myself. After 6 months in Prague, I knew it was the city for me. I eventually opened Dirty Dogs Food Trucks in the Manifesto Markets that the brilliant Prague City Planning Committe thought of constructing. After that became very successful, I thought a lot of doing my own innovative restaurant that represented America, but not burgers. A friend of mine offered the capital and we opened Isaacs BBQ."
"Everybody loves the American style of smoked brisket and pulled pork and the idea of the BBQ ribs. It's funny, though because when people ask me what sells the most back at Dirty Dogs Manifesto I sheepishly admit: the burgers!"
"I am a New Yorker, of Jewish descent, and how I made it from my first culinary experience in BBQ in the City of New Orleans at the age of 17, to Michelin restaurants in the Big Apple New York, to travelling the world and opening Dirty Dogs in Manifesto Market to here is quite a story," says the very affable and grateful brilliant chef of ISAAC's BBQ.
"I want a place that is unassuming & everybody feels welcome here, yet with kick ass BBQ. The Hospitality in Czech sometimes gets a bad rap, so the very first item on the list for my entire team is to make you smile. We can't proceed with your order til you smile. So, happy first and food next."

It's a comfortable rustic                   place with comfort food
"Even the nachos, which you're eating right now, are a bit of a fusion. You have sweet baked beans with pulled pork or brisket lathered on top. I want people to rave about our recipes in the most exciting way. To elevate the BBQ. There aren't any Texas style BBQ ribs with just sauce on the grill and salt and pepper. We have New York BBQ which is a totally different thing."
And, honestly, my nachos came in a deep-dish bowl and I loved the sweet baked beans, cilantro lime crema and the pulled pork all on top of the nacho chips. I ate about 3 nacho chips.  I always eat nachos. These are the best I have ever had and hardly touched the chips!

                                                            MAX's STEAKHOUSE                                                                                                       OSTROVNI 26

Max is a friend and an American. He has been here 20+ years, married a Czech girl and they have two grown children, but he seems so American to me! He had 2 steakhouses that were very American and after Covid, kept Max's. The outside is unassuming, but once you step inside, you'll feel transported to Morton's of Chicago, where I am from.
Pretty much just good steak, fries and a salad. About as American as you can get. The difference is the beef. Some of the best beef in the world comes from South America originally, for instance the Argentinian Black Angus, which Max serves here exclusively. The bull, which is what Max uses, comes from the Czech Republic.  When you know how to select a dry aged steak and you know how to grill it the way they do here with Lava Grill method, you can eat the way Americans do or probably even better.
Max says that they truly don't notice alcohol consumption down at all based on their

ABOUT US :: MAXS-STEAKHOUSE

And while you're here, if a big steak is too much for you, why you should just try one of their specialty burgers such as Max's Bourbon Burger!

Prague is such an international city, or at least in its heyday it was. Think the Mission Impossible Filming era. Then it had a little funk & now it is making a comeback as the "mysterious city that has so many different internationals living in it, you could live in the city for years & nobody would ever find you", city.
And with that comes the reputation of Prague as a great "foody" city. Here at Max's Steakhouse, if you can't make it to Chicago, you should totally make it to Max's.
Their Speciality: 170 g Beef Eye round steak on a lava grill (sous-vide), served on a bed of pasta with roasted tomatoes, garlic, and mushrooms.
The key is the lava grill. I am hungry already!

                                 San Carlo Restaurants Prague
A Great Sicilian Chef & Italian Team
& Pizza Naples Style Await you.
Image
Meet Luca, the Director of VinoHrady, & Carmello, the Head Chef of all of the San Carlo Restaurants.
If you eat the pizza at any of the locations, you can thank Carmello, as it is his recipe of pizza dough, along with every item on their menus. So, Thanks, Carmello!

AND READY FAMILIES!    ALL  YOU  CAN  EAT  ITALIAN BUFFETS
Wednesday Nights & All Day Sundays at VinoHrady & Holesovice
Luca tells me that his family, along with Carmello, the head chef, is from Sicily and that they have the REAL cannoli here. With Riccotta. Which is probably my favorite food in the world. Photo

You'll feel like you walked into "Little Italy" with a Walt Disney Decor when you enter one of the 6 restaurants of San Carlo Italian Restaurants. The food is amazing. Literally amazing and should be considered it all comes from Italy. Every ingredient is Italian & the head chef is Sicilian.
The owners are Italian & the Team is Italian. The ingredients are imported from Italian regions & the burrata cheese is from an Italian who built a farm near Prague with 300 Italian cows & they make the burrata cheese there. You'll see it in the videos.
Radim, the director underneath the owner, organizes his group of a couple people from each location to go farm asparagus for asparagus season, for instance, & you can see that on the video to the right.
EVERY DAY Now after LUNCH is the SPECIAL Asparagus Menu. Super Fresh.

              "It's an educational system
       that I truly enjoy.
I took teams from each location,
           we spent 8 hours working
          on the asparagus farm.
When we talk to our guests
          about our dishes, we know
             where the asparagus comes from
and we can have fun, too."Photo
And the super fun & super-efficient Director of all the San Carlos Restaurants is Radim.
He is under the owner, then 2 directors under him along with Carmello, then the team. He shows me his phone where at each location, he can see who clocks in and what time. SUPER EFFICIENT!
"While Carmello supervises & actually creates the recipes, we do the blind taste testing. All the directors, the owner & some team members, about 15 of us, blind taste test the ingredients. The Burrata cheese is from a young Italian in his 40s who owns 300 cows near Prague on his Italian farm. Every year, no matter who applies, the young Italian with the farm of Burrata wins. He is that good."

"One person I do want to mention is the woman who makes ALL of the Pizza Dough for all of our locations. As you can see, from my iPhone schedule, she clocked in at 5:00am today. She makes all the dough. Then we have it raise for 48 hours. At that time, we deliver the pizza dough to each location, about enough for 200 pizzas each, where it sits another 24 hours. Then you can try it. She is amazing. She works 6 days a week. 8 hour days!"
I say that they probably have surveillance on her on her day off to make sure she doesn't escape!

OLEH says, "Okay, I don't do segways or scooters because for me I want safety & fun for my guests. If you do a tour with my guides, we make sure everybody is safe. I had some guests who told me that they were mad because I didn't tell them that Prague has trams! Um, yes Prague has trams. If you take bikes & your own self audio tour, you should be safe, but now I guess I have to mention that Prague has trams, so be careful!" I start laughing at OLEH when he says that. He also says that people say that Prague shouldn't have cobblestones because people can trip on cobblestones.Prague explorer, self-guided bike tour
For me, the charm of my new American city is Boston's cobblestones. Chicago is modern, where I come from & I have actually tripped more times in Chicago than Boston.
OLEH laughs, "Yes, well you just have to be aware of your surroundings and be careful. If you take a tour with our guides, we know about the trams. We wait for all of our guests & everybody is safe & enjoys their ride."

We would like to welcome 2 young men who opened a Calabrian Italian                           Restaurant named Sapore Vero or the "True Taste".
                                                 Located at Jeruzalemska 977

The one on the left is from Bosnia, his name is Tarik, and Gianvito is from Calabria, in the middle. They're the young entrepreneurs who said, "Yes let's do it." & created & opened Sapore Vero right on Jindřišská trams #34, 6, 24, 9, 5. About 50 meters down the alley. Right around the corner from the Jewish Temple.
The menu is very authentic with a couple of dishes from various regions of Italy, yet the core is specialties from Calabria. And everybody knows that Italian food from Calabria is where it is at! I happen to love salads, and they have big ones.
Gianvito, of who I want to make a movie & include him, is a delight. He is a serious person yet doesn't take himself seriously.
His mom's home cooking in Calabria, of which he ate every day, at least the view of the rest of the world, makes him a person of privilege.
He laughs when I tell him that, "Well, I just think that Italian food is the best. We have the best ingredients here, the best plates, our plates are huge, by the way. At least 130 grams of Pasta in every plate. We don't do a little foo foo pasta where you order at a fancy restaurant & you're still hungry," he says.
"It all starts with the best ingredients."

."

            "Good Food
                    Good Friendship
              Best Ingredients.
That's what I would say                       about my place."
                           -Gianvito

Want to try something spicy from Calabia?
Gianvito says, in his VERY south Italian way,"Calabria has a special spicy sausage that is very soft & when you cook it, it becomes creamy. We use that for our sauce, let's say, in the Rigatoni with tomato sauce, spicy ‘nduja and we sprinkle it with stracciatella cheese. That is a dish you certainly should try. If you want the Roman Carbonara or the Amatriciana, we do ours with authentic recipes. Very simple."
From (Bosnian)Tarik, "...a deep friendship, a love for Italian food & we give the very best of ourselves to share our love."

                               The Bake Shop of Prague

The Famous Prague "THE BAKE SHOP" where all the celebrities & international visitors come to.
Okay here I am talking to my good friend, MARTIN the Capo Boss with his may baking items:
                                         THE BAKE SHOP PRAGUE.
Cukrárna a pekárna Bakeshop Praha | Apetee
You absolutely must do breakfast here. You will feel pampered, relaxed, calm as if you totally found a foreign country that gives you a peaceful experience at once mysterious and memorable. Have a Prague coffee and try any of the expensive treats just sitting there before your eyes. You probably will be, o I don't know, a kid in a bakeshop. Hey! You are a kid in a bakeshop. So, usually I buy a couple cakes, cupcakes, minions, and always choose the one with the most frosting. You can justify it with the phrase of that I am on vacation or buy the quinoa and healthy alternatives. Yet always sit outside with coffee or at the little tables of highchairs and breakfast bars.
When you come into the Bake Shop, always ask if Martin is there. He has more energy than me, so for all of you that know me, you'll probably fly here from Texas, like you do to eat in Modena at Francescana, the 3-star Michelin, just to say you can! Well, same here with Martin. For being in front of all of these pastries all the time, he doesn't look the typical bakery type. He looks more like Kim Kardashian's Person Trainer, and with the energy to match, so I tell him he must eat a lot of the sugar treats every day!
BAKESHOP LITTLE BAKERY, Prague - Praha 1 (City Center) - Menu, Prices & Restaurant Reviews - Tripadvisor
These babies could last me an entire week of healthy eating. Most of these are made gluten-free. The cookies and cakes and cupcakes are gluten-free, too. Just ask and they can show you some options. Every night the bakers work all night making these fresh and the team comes in at 5:00 am to prepare the rest of the accessories to the cupcakes, etc. They're always fresh and homemade. It is definitely an indulgence here at the Bakeshop.
My favourite bakery in Prague, Bakeshop.
So, I guess in addition to having lunch of healthy Quinoa, salads of all types of homemade veggies, homemade sandwiches and freshly made daily baked goods, the "Merch" is something we must take home with us! The sweatshirts are always a good idea when Prague is cold and you're in shorts.BAKESHOP LITTLE BAKERY, Prague - Praha 1 (City Center) - Menu, Prices & Restaurant Reviews - Tripadvisor
Martin has owned the Bake Shop the last 15 years. It has only had 2 owners in the 27 years it has been up and running. So, it is very well taken care of and family owned. His wife has a little bakeshop on the other side of the Charles River at Uluzickeho Seminare 22 which has healthy smoothies, sandwiches and of course the world famous bakery items that the Bake Shop is known for. I would wish to be in Prague one month so that I could try every treat!
And the Minions, my favorite, remind me of all my friends. If you want to eat a cupcake that looks like a couple of your silliest friends, come here.

                                ALTRO Da Tony
                                      Korunni 1251 to 48

Meet Tony, a Czech who has been head chef at prestigious Italian restaurants in Prague 20 plus years & finally has the privilege of opening his own.
Located at: Korunní 1251/48 the Italian bistro, ALTRO da Tony is playful, cozy & fun with all of the Italian regions we have come to love represented on his own creative menu.
Lenka tells me her boss is training a chef named Patrik & his girlfriend Filippa helps with the service, so they're creating their own family team. Hope you enjoy your time here.

"The way a place makes you feel

a place is what makes memories."

              NAPOLETANE LASAGNA

Photo of lasagna

"For Tony, bringing guests here, even his best friends, means sharing on the table. Allowing emotions & happiness & trying a lot of different items on the menu is what he says would be a perfect night of inviting guests to come & try his restaurant.  He loves every dish he makes, & yes, he looks to see if you enjoy it. His kitchen is open so he can communicate with his guests. He loves when it is full of loud & interactive clients. That, honestly is what makes him happy," says Lenka.

Later, as I rode the tram 16 past the ALTRO da TONY, about 8:00 pm, I saw the bistro full of people, and it looked so warm & inviting. A group of 5 got off the tram laughing with me & made their way to the restaurant, & I thought, "hmm I bet Tony is happy tonight!"
Photo of PizzaI love pizza ovens so much ever since being introduced to the ones from Rome, that I thought of doing my own photographic book on these beautiful designs til I found out that about 1 million of these books existed; however, here at Tony's he chose the highly respected Morello Forni designs. A gold beauty that is the centerpiece as you walk in & where his handpicked Pizza chef, Ali, creates & makes your pizza in under 90 seconds!
Well, Ali makes the dough, of course, & it is his own original recipe, & he takes great care in making it special for you. During Valentine's Day, Ali made everybody heart shaped pieces & Lenka says that if he is in a good mood & you ask nicely, he probably will make you a heart shaped one, too.
Along with regional recipes from Italy, that Tony has picked up from traveling to the different areas, he uses his 20 years of experience in the culinary field to create the menu. Yet every chef is particular.
Tony says, "You know people can make Carbonara from Rome many different ways. Here is my recipe. It is made with my love for the Italian ingredients & traditions."
Photo of kind head chef
It is easy to have Tony talk about his creative view & how he makes the pasta fresh by hand with rolling it & uses eggs to make it every day, the real Italian way, yet when it comes to asking to take his picture, forget about it! As the Italians say! It's all about the food!
Photo

"He is shy," laughs Lenka, pictured above.
"Yet, sometimes if he wants to show his restaurant, he will let you take pictures. One time a famous Journalist came in, started filming & taking photos & he didn't know what to do because they surprised him. A very nice photo & article in the Czech paper, but he was astounded!"
I told her that all of the famous chefs love to create & they're all about their food & guests, but they're not so into publicity! And some that I have known even yell at photographers coming near their kitchen!
Thank God Tony is very cool & let me take some great photos and brought me into his world for a little while.

"I knew the moment I saw the location how it would look. I don't know how either, yet it all designed itself," laughs Tony, who along with his talented team of 5, make ALTRO da Tony the cozy friendly bistro that it is today.
"Yes, I designed the tiles & the lighting & the lemon tree is my personal tree," they all start laughing again, & the atmosphere of being in their family pervades the room, is infectious, & you start laughing too.
"I come from the kitchen & talk to my guests. Tetiana, who is my right-hand kitchen team, was shy at first, but now when we're super busy, she has to bring plates to the table. We all do that. Ali, who is my pizza maker, & hand-makes the special Naples recipe pizza dough every day, sometimes brings pizzas to the table. It is very intimate & we know all of the guests' stories & even their dog's names!"
Lenka, the friendly beautiful blonde server, helped me to translate from Czech to English & has a very warm laugh that you easily feel comfortable with, "I am the only one at the tables, with the help of Tony & Ali, who occaisionaly do come out to the guests with food. We all love when it is totally full, crazy busy & lines waiting. That is why we're here."

So, whether you want a little glitz and art house at the Downtown Location or just plain "Leave you Husband with us" at the Old Town Square, be sure to try the burgers and the beers.

When you think of FAT CAT Pub, you don't usually think high end swanky art gallery.
However, this time, when I walked into the JALTA location, the very creative and talented team of Honza's were hanging the most interesting paintings that I have ever seen. I am not an "art gallery" type of person. I would rather create than watch, but these-there of interest to me. Having said that, while you walk around the elegantly decorated interior to see the personal collection they have, remember that it IS a High-Quality Pub in terms of food and drink. Yet, it is sporty, quirky and trendy with the lovable Red and Black Logo so familiar to people walking on Karlova Street in the Historical Section of Prague, or the Lovable Cat staring at you at the JALTA location at Museum Vaclavske namesti 45,
                            Welcome Home!
FAT CAT Pub 2  has settled in nicely. The Team is still super energetic and independent with the Hostess dancing in the entrance tonight beckoning people in, but the mood and atmosphere is friendly and casual. The food a mixture of American with Czech fusion in the sense, a little twist of Honza Simice, the very intelligent and affable Boss who founded the Pub.
With the Fat Cat Cheeseburger, the Route 66 Burger with a Fried Chicken Wing, The T-Bone steak, The Tuna Steak or the Flatbreads and 1.5 Pound Ribs, you'll feel like you're in America. But Honza, always the creative one, manages to make the presentation beautiful and a little bit of a surprise in every item. And for the Americans touring Europe who crave an American Breakfast, or for International and Czech visitors, they have all that you need.
Can you even imagine having a FAT CAT FRANCHISE IN AMERICA? IT WOULD BE THE BOOMING PUB AT EVERY COLLEGE TOWN IN AMERICA!
A little bit of something for everybody!
        logo_cat.png         https://www.fat-cat.cz/?lang=cs
I wouldn't say that FAT CAT Pub is very fun, would you? Seriously, the servers should get back to work instead of dancing around the tables all the time. Just joking. What makes the place so special is the atmosphere & the staff.
With Reviews from "The Place is Banging" to "It's Bloody Marvelous & The Chicken Wings are to die for." And Fat Cat Brews & Shots as strong and colorful as they can make them, what's not to love!
The team tells me that Honza is a prankster, and on any given day you can find him wandering from table to table asking if the couple minds if he tries one of their onion rings, and they watch astounded as he does, or pours the rest of their beer into their glass, then drinks a little himself. The table always laughs and the team rushes to say, "He's the boss!" just in case!

Martin Procházka Martin is the owner of the 13th century old monastery brewery building that houses the Tri Ruzi which translates to The Three Silver Roses. I asked Marek, who is the director of the restaurant/brewery,
if today it is still a monastery brewery and
                     he said, "Um, no."
While the restaurant/breweries have similar Czech dishes, the chefs are different. So, try both. I think it is always fun to be a "foody". Photo of lager
As Martin is now the Director of both restaurants, I asked him to tell me how he came to love the brewery business and he told me he came from the Michelin Star restaurant in the Hotel Arcon, as a culinary chef. Hmm, maybe the reason the food is very authentic to the true Czech traditions.
"People will tell you that the Czech people themselves don't eat Czech food at home. That is true, but it isn't because we don't love Czech cuisine. It is because Czech food is not fast food. You have to marinate it and cook it for long hours, the goulash, the soups, the meat. Most Czech people don't want to spend 3 to 5 hours a day preparing dinner. We love to dine out. Let other people cook for us!"

So, is that why people come here?
Martin laughs and says, "It's the beer!"Photo of czech beer
And here at the U Tri Ruzi, is the director, Marek & Master Brewmaster, Robert Manak.Image
They are in the cellar, where the beer is fermented for 2 MONTHS, as it is a technique named bottom fermented. The tanks are huge and hold about 2,500 glasses of beer each. As the process takes such a long time, the beer that you drink is at least 2 months in the making and is very strong and very good.
Another reason to come try their beer.
In addition to the restaurant here, Martin is also the owner of the Brewery/Beer Garden opposite the river  named:Pivovar a restaurace Vojanův Dvůr.
We'll talk about the Vojanuv Dvur a
little bit later.

Marek offers me a Black Stout beer, from their original brewery recipe and I tell him that I am allergic to alcohol, but he orders it anyway! When it comes he tells me just try a sip so I know what it tastes like. Stout used to be my favorite when I could drink alcohol, so I tell him to taste it for me!
We all laugh as he does a very big taste test and tells us that the Stout tastes great with flavors of Chocolate & Coffee. So of course, now I am totally depressed! My favorites.
His bartender tells him to tell me to order the Roasted Pork Knuckle with Black Beer so then Marek can eat it! Okay, that is a deal.
    Or the Brewery Beef Goulash.
According to both Martin & Marek, The Americans love the Goulash. True.Photo of kitchen
The Walls on all 3 levels are painted by the Czech famous painters, Jiří Bernard and Pavel Jakl, and they're rather amazing with sports televisions placed in the middle of the walls so instead of looking sports bar tacky, sorry guys, they look living room comfy. If you follow the scenes, you will see the story of how beer in Czech Republic is brewed through the ages. Photo of pork knuckle

Okay so my Windisch-Grätz family stables is now the brewery house:

at location of Mala Strana-take tram 22 to reach it within 30 meters.
One of the horses kept in the Imperial stables, which is now the restaurant/brewery is ARDO II, the model for the Equestrian statue famous on Wenceslas Square. The family is aristocratic from: SLOVENIA, where the Americans will be happy to know our First Lady, the now famous Movie Actress, Melania Trump is from.Photo of beer
Well, I wouldn't say Santa never came here, but I think the tourists from the South Pole did. The food looks bigger than them.

And being the first ever Micro Brewery in Prague on the side of Mala Strana, Vojanuv Dvur has some very tasty hearty meals waiting for you, too! Some look like USA's. Photo of burger
However, while you're in Prague, whether you're a Historian and want to check out the stables, a movie buff and want to walk the Charles Bridge & see where MISSION IMPOSSIBLE WAS FILMED or a foody & want to try the Prague BEER & FOOD CULTURE, here is where you should come. Photo
However, the traditional Check Recipes will entice & surprise you and Martin says that while they have many Czech recipes, such as the Beef Brewery Goulash, Confit of Duck Leg, Fried cheese, or the Fried Tomahawk Steak, the Tourists always want to try the goulash. Be prepared to be totally full, so maybe have your table order one of each and share, or just take very long walks around the many bridges of Prague after lunch! As the beer garden is all the way down the hill from the Prague Castle and right before the bridge, it's perfect location to do that awaits. Or if you just want to get drunk on the Micro Breweries VERY STRONG bottom brewed beer & take the tram home, that is an option, too.

Okay next UP: STUDENTS Erasmus/College/ & Friends
come on down Tuesday from 6:30 to paint
mingle, & have fun meeting new friends.
Meet Sylvia pictured here and Richy, partners and co-owners of the Richy's Happy Bar in Prague.
It's a casual great time where people come to party on the beach inside the art cafe!

They have plenty of easels and tons of great painting material that you can always use and Sylvia even will instruct you for hours for an additional fee if you want to take home that beautiful portrait of your loved one that you painted especially for her or him while you drank 4 mimosas and sang to Jim Morison of the Doors. If you have something with you that is retro, think the 1960s, feel free to be creative & wear some funk.
But if you're a tourist who only brought conservative clothing, there is plenty of vintage stores everywhere in Prague & you can find something fun. Image

You'll have to google it to find it. If you find Gran Fiero on Vorsilska 13, it's right behind it in a hidden alley. Very Speakeasyish, and deceptive. A small doorway, but once you come inside, you fall in love. There is art EVERYWHERE. Tables painted, walls painted, glasses painted, paintings for sale, and such a funky 1990s retro bar where the drink is the focus, not the glamour & glitz.
Yet, they have amazing fun interactive events, usually involving a DJ in a space with a couple of living rooms put together.
They're relaxed, friendly & always fun.
And everyday and everynight they have drink and drawing specials. TUESDAY NIGHT IS ERASMUS Night, but you can come & join the students and paint, too.
Prices for the drawing events everyday range from 200 CZK including a drink to 600 CZK including a drink, depending on how involved you want to be. So, something for every price range.

They always have finger food goodies at every event, and the people mingle with everybody, so if you're solo, you'll be made to feel comfortable. Sometimes they have events, such as Valentine's Day, where you had to leave with at least one new friend. Artists & friends are always the kindest and most accepting people who love to share creative interactive ideas. ImageSo, yes, guys have fun, too. Great card games, board games, and very cheap beers, so of course guys love it. With a groovy music vibe, a retro bar where every glass is hand painted by students of the art academy and Sylvia, herself, who teaches at several of the Colleges of Art in Prague & at the Art Academy many years, you can even take the glass of beer home with you! All the artistic pieces are for sale, even the glasses.

"I knew the Turkish culture, & I love the spices & attention to detail, yet when the 30-year Italian jewel here opened up, I grabbed it. I love Italian food, I loved the real brick wood burning pizza oven, & with the help of a great chef, we have succeeded in offering my guests a special fusion of Italian dishes with Turkish spices." Photo

"It is an Italian Restaurant, I want that to be known. Yet, you know you can find pizza anywhere. I wanted something special. The MICHELIN style of attention to bringing flavors of food to the forefront. So, I have a Turkish Chef is who is VERY GOOD at what he does & he uses creative spices to make the homemade Italian bread & pizza dough, & to create each pasta dish. We do have gluten free pizza & pasta by the way. AND WE'RE HALAL." Photo of service
Since I am vegetarian & attempting vegan, since I can't have gluten, it is definitely the place for me. Plus, they actually fry the Goat Cheese in the Wood Burning oven for your salads... Ok! photo_2024-06-16_14-02-48 (2).jpg

"What I love & what I want to keep is the atmosphere of authenticity. It is cozy & real. You can always do modern, right? Yet the real Czech decoration of keeping it simple, wooden chairs, memorablia on the walls, with old fashioned Italian music. Think Frank Sinatra. That is why I loved it." Photo

Zviadi's goal is "To Introduce the warmth of Georgian
culture, its spirit of hospitality, and the rich
flavors of authentic Georgian cuisine to the international
community in Prague. I want EVERY GUEST to feel
a real emotion here and to leave with a memory & experience
that stays in their heart a long time."

Beautiful, homey, & full of loud laughter and fun. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, they have live Georgian music from Sasha, who can and does sing songs in 24 languages. The Georgian culture is full of colors & life, and they are a very educated culture, as you will see.
Full of hospitality that centers around you having a very good time.
On Saturday nights at around 6:00 pm, the live music is accompanied with a round of long dancing and if you know the Georgian intricate dances, you can join in. Or if you drink a lot of Georgian wine, you can pretend to know the dances.

Zviadi, who is from Tbilisi, Georgia, loves family and friends and had a huge table in the afternoon full of his friends and every kind of meat dish on the menu. About 12 and all of the guests laughing, raising glasses to me and enjoying the absolutely lavish cave like dining rooms. All the Georgia restaurants that I have ever been in, have cave like dwellings and I wonder what the country of Georgia is like.

The one thing to remember about Georgian Restaurants, when they're very authentic the way all of Zviadi's 5 Georgians are, is that they are not for you to lose weight on. They're heavy on the cheese and yes that is butter. Isn't it scrumptious looking, though?

Elene, who is from Georgia, has only been with the team for one week.
She came here with her boyfriend, who she said then didn't want to continue so she ran to her Georgia contacts & fell in love with support, the team, the boss & the food.
"I am so happy I came to Prague. At first, I thought, well, what do I do now and I met Zviadi, who is the nicest person and he made me feel at home. It is a family & team of happiness & I love my culture & can respond here with confidence to represent Zviadi & Stare Tbilisi."

The best thing about the restaurant is the decor & the atmosphere, o and the team. We had discussions about the Georgian culture and pop stars of Georgia, which one of the waiters said was too old, about 50. Then we discussed Taylor Swift who we thought was about 40, but found out she is 36 on Google. Beyonce early 40s and the Georgian waiter's favorite, Shakira is almost 50. Which, she is still his favorite, he doesn't care how old she is.
Okay and we talked about the Georgian Nationals dances which have intricate and technical moves in them and you train for the teams at early ages. You can enjoy these on Saturday nights here and at Zviadi's other location in Prague 13 at Petrizilkolva 1436. That one is named Gemoeby.
Zviadi also has a Georgian restaurant in Bruno, Czech, named Lotebi.
It is located in the heart of that very edgy city at

While Riccardo, who started his first "baby" of the Riccardo Empire, that I have dubbed it, Aromi about 20 years now, has a playful side, he is a true professional and perfectionist when it comes to his restaurants and his vision and image for each one.
"Since Finestrina is my newest design, I have personally attended to every aspect of the menu. I do that when I start a new restaurant. I want a certain mold and I have to be the one to do that. After a year or so, during which I collaborate with my kitchen team and head chef, I slowly ease out of every decision when it comes to the menu and let my chefs take the reins. But it is a long process, and I hold on as long as I see that I must. I am a perfectionist and if I am forced to open a restaurant or a venture before every little detail is to my satisfaction, I have so much stress every day. I even want the music and the volume of the music to be perfect," says the Master Chef, who admits he grew up in the UK studying the culinary arts at the same time as Gordon Ramsay.
"Actually, Gordon and I am the same age, 57. He is a bit more of a show man and I am much shyer. I admire Gordon very much, for, he too, is a perfectionist."
Photo
"My newest design is just turning La Bottega into Finestrina. Finestrina is the small window attached to my fine dining restaurant, La Finestra. While La Finestra literally translates to "the window" because of the gorgeous window into the soul of the kitchen where diners can watch the chefs create, I named the other restaurant, "the small window."
Besides the easy glamour that you feel immediately when entering Finestrina, you notice the three flowing layers of the chandeliers. It's voluminous fabric Trompe-l'œil-look is very bohemian and sophisticated, at the same time, and I love it.
La Finestra is located at Platnerska 13.
Finestrina is right next door Platnerska 11.
And while La Finestra is a well-established fine dining, Michelin restaurant, specializing in dry aged steaks, it's little Finestrina is more casual and focused on fresh seafood, oysters and Mediterranean food.
"La Finestra is the steak restaurant and here we specialize in fish. That is the main difference," says Riccardo, "yet both have the same professionalism and are dedicated to the best." Photo of brunch

FARINA is more specialized in accessibility, with a cozy, yet industrial modern ambience and the luxury of fresh home-made pasta and organic pizza. The highlight is the actual light of the restaurant Farina. With its open kitchen, guests can watch it all and they love to see the pizza chefs at work. It has an indoor terrace with windows everywhere and an outside terrace in the warmer months.
Photo
The pasta from Farina comes from a special mill in Italy, and the name of Farina, literally, means flour. You can either choose the organic flour or the whole-grain for your pizza and you can definitely be excited about your choice of their fresh homemade pasta from the same. Here the quality of the Italian ingredients, as with all of Riccardo Lucque's restaurants, is of the highest found and it is a chance for you to experience his artisanal craftsmanship with these ingredients equal to his demand.

And yes, Americans are totally like this:

And while Farina is a separate independent restaurant that is not in the collection of La Collezione on his website, Riccardo is steadfastly at the lead of that one, too.

And yes, Riccardo's team is like this:
                                                                   10.

                                      AGORA Aropa GREEK Restaurant
is so stunningly beautiful with its elegant white layers,
set in the Exchange Palace Rybna 682, reminding you of the splendor of
Greece and the island of Mykonos, where the owner, Michael, comes from.

I loved especially the lightness and airiness of the place, which is half open with different levels of white columns separating the layers, and partly closed in floor-to-ceiling glass. Yet it is inside the Exchange Palace corridor, so the entire jewel allows you to feel as if you're relaxing outside, even in the winter.
As the owner is from Mykonos & the architecture & design of Agora plants you firmly within its white stone walls, you pretty much feel as if you're actually on the island. And when people who know party scenes around the world, hear you come from Mykonos, Greece, they're always in awe.
First, it has held the "party capitol of the world" title many times, famous for its all-night dance party clubs, and secondly, Mykonos is one of the most beautiful Greek islands, which is saying a lot.
The boss had a video of the gorgeous natural scenery of the island on a big screen, as he and friends were relaxing this afternoon, and I got to see the wild nature and sea, which is perfectly crystal clear.

                            GREEK NIGHT

And, at Agora, they only serve the loveliest Greek wines to give you the full experience of their culture & quality.
And while I can't drink wine, if I could,
I would definitely try the selection that Michael has chosen. He carefully selects all his items, considering important aspects he wants to share with his guests.

The Bistro is attached to an authentic deli with specialty foods that you can take home with you. He also has a deli store in the New York University of Prague named Opus, from his very first bistro in Prague, so the students can enjoy the delicious tastes of his homeland.

I met Michael's chef, who is from Greece and asked Michael if the country had regional cooking, the way that Italy does.
"Yes, each region and each island, in fact, has their own recipes and traditional foods. Mine is from the region of Athens. It doesn't make sense to me that I would open a Greek restaurant in Prague and then do a fusion of Mediterranean and Greek. I wanted a truly authentic restaurant that I remember when growing up, with the flavors and tastes that I love."
The team is super friendly & welcoming at the Agora Greek & you can always find someone to chat with, whether it is lunch or dinner. As the place, itself, is rather elegant, dressing for dinner is perfectly suitable, or have a casual lunch.
"We always say stay as long as you want. Stay 3 or 4 hours. We're here to welcome you to our home. I want people to enjoy the atmosphere, relax & be brought into a totally Greek experience of food, wine & hospitality. We're completely Greek and we have some very good Greek wines, by the way. When we have live music, we're always booked out, as people love to dine and unwind in the Mykonos vibe! On the Greek Nights, people are always dancing everywhere. Last night we had to turn away at least 20 people, who were not happy, but we were overbooked and people were having such a great time, they didn't want to leave," says Michael. Photo
He opened the restaurant as a hobby, he says. "I moved from Mykonos to Cleveland, Ohio! That is a cultural shock. Then to Prague and when I first came to Prague, I couldn't find a real Greek authentic place. So, I decided to make one for myself. So that 30% of the year, when I spend it in Prague, I can have somewhere to eat with my friends and family."
These are always the best places to eat, if you can find them. Family owned and family dined! And if you actually find a place such as Agora, where the original intent was to build a kitchen that you would want to come to every night, then do.

Now, today, I had the ultimate pleasure of dining at Lunch at Amano. While the team said they do not have a Michelin star, YET they're in the guide. You HAVE to dine at Amano, which is very deceptive, near the Florence Bus Station and connected to the Urban Creme hotel. One of the most pleasurable lunches in terms of quality, hospitality, service and ambience.           Trams near NA PORICI 48, Tram 8, Tram 3, Tram 24, Tram 14. Stop Bila Labut
Literally right in front of the Tram 1 minute walk.

It is exquisite. Heavenly. Quiet. Sophisticated. Beauty. Mysterious.
So Mysterious that when my caviar wrapped in paper arrived, I had to google my instagram friend to ask how to eat it in the correct way. It seems you just pick it up and eat it all in one bite, paper and all. Melts in your mouth. And I learned a valuable etiquette lesson.
Speaking of which; have I told you about Riccardo's cooking classes, where he is now, most of the time as head chef? It's coming.

Photo of gourmet
When they present each dish, I think, 'so here is a Michelin 2 star.'
Gorgeous, exotic, but I'll have to walk to Farina for some huge plates of pasta to fill me up after lunch. However, the amount food is deceptive. It is so perfectly prepared, yet hearty and filling. Amazing.

"I have a new project starting on every Thursday next month, where you can book a class and table for 2, 4, etc. and have a private chef work with you to create 2 starters, 2 main dishes, 2 desserts and you dine intimately on what you have cooked afterwards. It is something that is a little different than the usual cooking classes that we currently have. Now I have visiting chefs, all the best at what they do, who specialize in their particular culture using their own expertise in their culinary traditions, such as a Vietnamese special cooking class with Kevin Ngu from the Asian restaurant in Prague: SaSaZU."
Riccardo says that Kevin always cooks from his heart and is definitely not afraid of experiments!
If you scroll their website: Cooking courses, you can choose the chef, such as Riccardo himself, or Roman Kintler of La Finestra. These are usually for groups, and of course the fun part is actually eating what you make! Also good for team building, private events, and just to have fun with your friends in Prague. You can bring back the know-how when you return from your vacation and wow everybody with your new cooking skills. Aromi | Cooking school

                                                               La Bottega Linka
                                                13, Havlickova 1680
Now we come to my favorite design restaurant of his group: La Bottega Linka, and as with all of Riccardo's projects, it has a startup story.
"The man who had the first and most renowned specialty delicatessen shop in the interwar era. in Prague was named Mr. Linka. His grandson still owns the building, and Mr. Linka was famous for banana ice cream. I had to receive permission from his Grandson to name my La Bottega; La Bottega Linka, to honor his grandfather and he said yes."
I asked Riccardo if they have banana ice cream there and he laughs, "Hmm no, but we should." So, maybe in the future, along with your high-quality steaks which are prepared in the special XOVEN where they cook all of the fresh fish and dry aged steak on charcoal, giving each piece that smokey wood taste, you will be able to order banana ice cream!
It is literally steps from the train station Prague Masarykova station, the Industrial style Bistro is my favorite. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with great charcuterie boards and a deli to take these great items home, it has a casual relaxed atmosphere, yet it is stunningly beautiful, and the food is exceptional. It has a mix of traditional and modern Italian recipes and features the fish and meat cooked exclusively in the XOVEN. Photo of mussels

As with all great chefs, the amount of work that they put into all of their creations is lost on us. They all seem magical and impossible to reach. Yet, we love eating these amazing items.
With its Michelin status, its nine consecutive years winning the Bib Gourmand award and receiving mention since 2006, Aromi has earned itself and its chef, Riccardo Lucque, respect in Czech Republic and the World. Photo
Here, at Riccardo's flagship restaurant, be prepared to be wowed. Both by the ambience and service; but especially by the dishes. He has owned and run Aromi for 20 plus years and 11 years ago he said he moved locations.
"When I moved, the first couple of months we were so jam packed. Then I noticed the attendance going down. The people said that it isn't the same restaurant and of course it is a new concept. Eventually, I had to hire an architect and make it more "AROMI". They had all felt comfortable in the original and that is when I learned that to change the menu is one thing, but to change the feel of a place is unacceptable!" Photo

O'CHES & The WILD WILDROVER Irish Bar
Liliová 14, Staré Město, 110 00 Praha & Jakubska 744

The Wild Rover Irish Pub is now open for a "soft opening" for anybody to wander in to say hi, taste a pint of Guinness, see who can tell the wildest Irish tales or wander downstairs to test the Karaoke skills. Tonight, on Friday, the 27th of February, 2026, they have live music upstairs starting at 8:00pm at Wild Rover, and at the 20 plus year popular O'Ches, the Maestro Owner, himself, Phillip, will be playing and singing starting at 7:30. A world of warning, Irish bars can be VERY FUN, so put on your dancing shoes, grab your Irish Coffee wallets for the 4 am to 6 am shift and come on down.
WILD ROVER IRISH PUB Image
All is quiet on the Western Front because it is only 5:30pm.
                                                         Just wait til they open!
The great modern new Irish bar is behind the construction scaffolding a few days, but you can maneuver and find it. It seems to be always filled with partying Americans, Brits & Irish kids. But, hey everybody is welcome to come and sing for their beers! Irish Guinness of course.
It is the newest "brother" bar of the Irish Czech Cuban: O'CHES, that has been producing the best Irish drunk dancers for the last 20 years in Prague. Which says a lot since it is Prague, the highest consumption of alcohol city of the world.
The funny story of O'Che's is that the original owner, Gordon, was a builder from England and had built about 8 bars in the city of Prague. When he was commissioned to build O'Che's 20 plus years ago, he said yes, built the gorgeous place, but the original contracted owners couldn't pay. So, they gave him the bar! Years later, an English/Indian lad bought it and then, Phillip, who is also an amazing builder, was constructing his own bar, Wild Rover. He learned that Jonathon of O'Che's wanted to sell, so he bought O'Che's. Construction halted on Wild Rover, O'Che's got a 2-year updated beautiful renovation, and now Wild Rover is almost ready again!

May be an image of one or more people

Tonight, should be an incredible night of laughter, great food and rocking dancing music as Phil is playing on stage. I haven't seen him play, yet, so it should be fun. I plan on coming to say hi around 9 or 10, so hope to see you all there. Image

With Rachel and Phil's decorative touch and Daphne, their daughter's impressive skills at painting and social media, O'Che's has turned from a great Irish dive bar to a family bar, a student bar, a stag bar, a backpacking bar, a guys or girls or combined night out bar and comfortable for everybody bar.
"i would say that the only real difference between O'Che's and Wild Rover now, after I have revamped it the last 2 years, is that O'Che's has a full kitchen. And now it has 4 and 5 stars for the food. We take great pride and care in presenting quality food. And hospitality. I have 3 items that my team must adhere to all the time. And being friendly and talkative with the guests is a must. If you're a super shy person who doesn't like to socialize, I don't think Irish Bars are a good mix for you to work at."
"I ask my team to ask the guests if they're celebrating something. If yes, I want to do something special for my guests, for instance an anniversary or birthday; a glass of champagne. A stag party, some shots. You know, because you could choose anywhere and you chose us. I invite my team to ask where everybody is from. To engage people in conversation. I need people to know if they're traveling and they are solo; they can come and talk to my bartenders all night long. They can come and sing karaoke, hear comedy nights, or live bands. It is a social place."

Very upscale restaurants from 4 lovely people from India who all have a great interest in bringing their culture to Prague and the world, yet in a modern approachable way.
The main focus is culture in a playful affordable way at every location of Masala. Two of the places, one at Jame V 1263, is a very elegant upscale design since it is located inside the hotel ICON; the other is located at Vladislavova 1747. Both are modern in decor, but the Vladislavova is the restaurant where Lovy says most reflects their India modern design.
"If you notice the rusty tin on the walls, that is a reflection of the roofs of the poor sections of India, and the mirrors next to the tin symbolizes the palaces of India. We have Mangala on the walls to the right to symbolize meditation of prosperity, happiness and good fortune. It is used in Hindu culture, yet in Buddhist, too." says Lovy, the partner who I had the pleasure of meeting with today.
"We're respecting the Czech culture, while bringing high quality traditional Indian spices to our dishes. We do fusion, but we stick to the ingredients that you can find in India. My goal is to form a Michelin restaurant at the location of Trida in the year of 2026, which includes service, friendliness, consistency and of course, the highest quality of Indian food made with research to attention to the ingredients and the flavor."
When I visited the Vladislavova Trida Masala today, it was totally packed at lunch. Businesspeople, all young in suits, were filling their plates to the brim at the stations of exotic Indian food.
Lovy laughed, "Yes, it is the buffet at lunch to introduce our culture and richness to the Czech people, and yet, the visitors have all found us."
The 200 Czech Crowns total is probably the reason, but once they taste the food, they'll keep coming back for seconds.
"The funniest thing about the buffet is the Indian sweets. People never order the sweets when they come to dinner, except the ones on the buffet. They eat all the sweets. I don't know why, but we always run out of Indian desserts!"
Both the Jame location at 1263 and the Vladislavova location have the buffet, but the other 3 locations are menu only.
Image
Mine today is the Curry Chicken, with Indian bread, only they have different cheese bread fusions. I loved the blue cheese one pictured here.
Lovy laughs when he tells me that in India they only have plain bread and that his restaurant is the only Indian restaurant in Prague that has the fusion cheeses in the bread.
"We also introduced a truffle oil on the rice, which the people love, and I believe is the only truffle Indian rice in Europe. We try to be innovated and curious."
"My vision is of a social connection. The culture of India is very social and we're a serious team when it comes to serving the best and highest quality, yet we're a very easy laid back team, too. I am happy to greet all guests and to serve, personally, the food to the table. Some people love the buffet because they can try all of our dishes and some love to have their very own dish. As long as they're happy and satisfied with their choice, I am happy," says Lovy.
                                                                               The 5 locations are:

I have been to quite a few, but U PAVOUKA is nonstop 3 hours of constant aisle entertainment. They encourage you to experience the entire "perfect reproduction of the feast from the Middle Ages" and use YOUR HANDS TO EAT! Well, that is how they did it back then, so have fun. A couple young guys, about 28, all dug right in and ate with their hands like true Vikings, and it was pretty funny. Almost more entertaining than the actual show. Photo of belly dancers
Sword fights, like ALL the TIME, with a script and theme, so they keep coming back to fight each other. They involve the audience, too, so it is very interactive. They have acrobatic shows, jugglers, and lots and lots of Fire Breathing twirlers. You are literally transported back in time to the actual shows of the kings and queens at the lavish banquets. New Year's Eve in Prague – Medieval Dinner Show at U Pavouka Tavern | Avantgarde Prague
They definitely LOVED BLACK LEATHER, so Mrs. Trump, Melania, would feel right at home.

O and have I mentioned that you receive UNLIMITED BEER AND WINE brought to you in big glasses and jugs? Yes, UNLIMITED. So, at about the 1/2 way into the show point, the audience is a little more interactive and vocal. It is a great show for the ENTIRE FAMILY and you'll all have tons of fun. Promise.

A 5-course dinner and an interactive show. Be careful, the sword fights are real! The fire eating is real and the belly dancers are real. Sometimes they come to your table as pirates, I guess and growl at you.

The belly dancers were some of my favorites as they were very good. I tried to learn how they do that and realized it takes years of practice. They're in great shape, though. U Pavouka, Medieval Tavern | Prague

So now you can come and sit on the Clock Tower Square or the Old Town Square, in Czech pronounced Staromestske Square.
Restaurant Staroměstská the Original Pilsner Restaurant
EmmeAnesBook EXCLUSIVE Restaurant on the SQUARES
Image
When I asked Stevan what the most important aspect about Pilsner on the Old Town Square was, which I call Clock Tower Square he said, "The beer." Pilsner is his favorite. Now he is in the chess tournament, so he doesn't drink beer. He says he is, "Playing for life."
"The guests are usually drunk, and they drink a lot of beer for instance the England vs. Czech Republic a couple of years ago, they consume from  7 am to 6 pm about 2, 500 liters of Pilsner. And we didn't run out of beer, although at 6pm they all headed to the stadium, and we had to collect 100s of mugs they left on the square and around the outside terrace. It was fun. It is always fun unless they drink too much and start fighting with each other as rivals or with the actual police, then it isn't so much fun," he says.
Although Stevan said that 99% of his guests are tourists, once in a while they do have local Czechs come. They like to try the Wild Boar Goulash, as they have that, which is a little more exotic than the normal goulash.
I asked him if Americans also love the Wild Boar and he said that they do and actually they love all of the Czech food, but Americans aren't the biggest beer drinkers.  They're nice and friendly, but they aren't the winners in beer drinking. The Russians drink the most. The Germans are second and Scandinavians and then Czech and Brits.
"The Germans and Czechs drink differently than Americans. I see the Americans come to party and get drunk, while the Europeans drink a lot more and drink all day just talking and after about 10 beers they head home as if it is just an average day!"

Personally, although I am thinking about the famous Prague Pork Knuckle or the Duck, having breakfast in the early morning, all peaceful and quiet with the gorgeous 15th century Clock Tower in front of me on the 10th century cobblestones of the original marketplace, is something religious. So, here is a little sample:Photo
I think Stevan is one of the happiest people I have ever met. Honestly. There is a reason that he is the head manager/director of Staromestska Pilsner Restaurant on the Square. Happy and always having a good time, while managing a huge project.

Yes, Czech food is fattening. It just is. Maybe it was the ancient historical cold winters in the past where everybody had to bundle up, but the food is so rich and hearty and fills you up with warmth inside. Take for instance the potato soup & goulash in bread bowls.
And having grown up on a farm outside of Chicago, with soybean and corn fields in my back yard, the view is always so astounding to me here.Photo of bread bowl

I have to tell you, I was so impressed with all of the talent, and the lead singers will absolutely wow you and hold your attention the entire time. One tiny girl amazed me. She reminded me of Andrea Berg. A total show person. Hilariously risqué and the Moulin Rouge part of the show was awesome.
The girl with the whips was so good, she reminded me of Angelina Jolie in Mr.& Mrs. Smith, except she cracked those whips like nobody's business & was a little scary.

                                              YORI Vietnamese & Thai
                                  Masarykovo nabr. 246/12

Meet Anthony, the son of the entrepreneur who started YORI Vietnamese & Thai specialty restaurant in Prague. The place has evolved from pure Vietnamese the last 9 years to a little bit of playful fusion, incorporating all of the Asian countries and their spices into their dishes.
"I am the creative one in terms of the kitchen. I guess because I am young, I have innovative ideas and our chef has about 30 years of experience with Vietnamese and fusion cooking, so we work with each other. I say, Hey can we try something new and he creates it. My job is fun. I can taste all of the dishes and say if we should add these to the menu. My father is the one who designed the bamboo poles in the restaurant. The minute you walk into YORI you feel relaxed and calm. You're away from the chaotic business of the city of Prague and for an hour or two you can feel the peace of YORI," says Anthony.
"I guess I am an entrepreneur," says Anthony, as he starts his story. "I am very nervous because although I have been working with my father to build YORI the last 9 years, I have never been asked to have an interview!"
O it is so much fun, I told him and he let me into the life of how a young boy made a gap year of various venture startups to building the most exclusive Vietnamese restaurant in Prague. Photo of pad thai
"After my year of working with various projects, the one I especially loved is my online retail experience. My father had been meeting with a restaurant owner in that year and told me they had decided to open up YORI. He asked me if I wanted to be in on the startup and I said yes," says Anthony.
The logo, YORI, is, itself, very funky and I asked if they had graduated into Merch sales of sweatshirts and hats with YORI on them.
"Well, that is a very good idea!" he laughs.
"Maybe in the future. You know the process of it all is what I enjoy the most. At first, we had paper placemats and a cardboard box with utensils and now we're much more elegant. The last 9 years have really challenged me and made me so happy to be a part of it all. My father and me now own all of it and I am so happy to work with my team and my guests. So, yes I feel happy now and that I made the right choice."

His team is young and playful. The first night I asked the host if I could order the goldfish in the aquarium tanks and he said, "Yes."
But then he changed his mind and said, "no, no, no, no!"
Anthony laughs, "They're actually not goldfish, they're Koi. They're for meditation and for fortune!"
That is why we feel soothed and calm in the restaurant.
Chicken Teriyaki, Chiang Mai, Yaki Niki Don and Pad Thai are the favorites of the lunch staff!
Anthony says they're terrified of getting their picture taken for publicity and fun and hide when the TIK TOK influencers come in to do a video.
But they're kind enough to point out their favorite dinners.

"We focus on authentic Vietnamese & Thai flavors, and we prepare these with respect to tradition for quality, yet we add modern twists. That is the first thing that I would like to emphasize and as I said, we're a family business that buiilt the restaurant from scratch. We literally didn't know how to run a restaurant," laughs Anthony. "Yet, my hope, my father and my hope is that it is a place where travelers and locals can come and connect with each other and other cultures; to connect in some way."

Since a young boy, Petr says he has always loved Motor sports. He loves these so much that he and his wife have built a coffee cafe named Cafe GP, with an entire room of his friends, who are famous Motorcycle Pros, their racing uniforms, their trophies, their pictures and Petr's own motorcycle that he has custom made as a simulator for Motorcycle enthusiasts around the world to try.
                            MOTORCYCLE SIMULATOR ANYONE?

And that is just the beginning, at least for the numerous young Czech motor sport lovers of whom the Cafe and Petr sponsor year after year to give a chance to become one of the greats. Their trophies are scattered everywhere in the cafe. If you love motorsports and you love helping young sportsers that are so hilarious in their videos, yet continue to win trophies, please come to the cafe at Pavlova 1786/2 to try one of Petr's wife's cakes (I LOVE these darn cakes), try the simulator to see how fast and low you can go and to help sponsor a young Czech team.
Petr says that he has added too many pounds with his wife's sweets & bakery items, and that he has to lose some before he can go back on the motorcycle simulator. Uh-oh!

Petr's wife is as elegant as he is sporty. And I couldn't get out of the cafe without the marshmallows. Come on, they're my favorite.
It is such a very cool place. With scrumptious cakes and breakfast items and lovely, delicious coffee specials, in an eclectic cafe with mix matched chairs and sofas and then you really can't help but notice all the memorabilia of motor sports surrounding you.
I half joked the first time I entered if that was a simulator room and the friendly team all said, why yes that is! Okay. Time to find out whats up.

"It's just a cafe in Prague..." Yet , even if it was, it has some of the best bakery items around and a chill, calm atmosphere where you feel relaxed to take your coffee.

"I love spices and experimenting with them and especially pepper. I have pepper from everywhere in the world and my famous signature steak pepper sauce is made with 7 different peppers mixed in. At the cookoff championships, every chef uses MSG to enhance the flavor. But I don't like to use MSG at my restaurant. I don't like using chemicals in my sauces, so I created the flavors by searching for spices that will give that same allowance to the taste of the meat, but without the chemicals. It is a long process, but it is worth it," says Daniele. Personally, I wanted to eat something right there as he was telling me all about his steaks and process. He is that good.

When you think of a "Shepherd's Pie or a Meat Pie" from London, at least the ones all of us Theater students ate, or tried to, at London Pubs, the Video Below isn't exactly what you imagine. But MEATEATERS Steak & Wine isn't your ordinary steak "pub", either. It is a fine dining exquisite experience that you absolutely MUST add to your list while in Prague.
Along with the ala carte menu, where the team will work with you to choose your specific steak or item for a great night out, they have a Chef Degustation menu that you can pair with their international collection of wine. Daniele says that he searches for excellence.

"Coming from an architectural background, I designed my entire restaurant myself. I even physically constructed it, to have it just the way I wanted it. I opened about 90 days before Covid shut the world down, and we were #8 in the WORLD on TRIP ADVISOR in that short time. The success was immediate and that is one of the things that I am most proud of."

Found a very famously known Local Pizza Place named JOHNNY'S PIZZA.
It is all about the ambience. Full of warm conversation, families and locals shouldering up to hungry tourists who have heard about the excellence of the Pizza from the last 15 years, and hilariously friendly and funny waiters. When I went for a walk with the owner, Johnny, yes there is a Johnny, he was so full of life and laughter, and I couldn't help think of the movie MY COUSIN VINNY.  The stereotypical Italian Pizza maker! Photo of atmosphere
It's the kind of place that you're always hoping to find in Florence, Italy, and yet it is nestled hidden in plain sight about a 4-minute walk from the Narodni Trida tram at the Maj department store.  It is super close to all you need in Prague 1.
Photo of Pizza
So, I have interviewed the entire team the 3 interviews I had because Johnny is always having something better to do! Yes, I know, how could anything in the world be better than being interviewed by me; yet there you have it. Every time, I am offered to try another pizza, yet I decided to try the "Johnny" which has ham, chicken, blue cheese, sundried tomatoes, lots of other cheese, well, see for yourself as here it is.
Of course, along with your beer, you can try the antipasti while you wait for your homemade pizza! They use the best ingredients with the items fresh every day.
"I am always looking forward," says the very energetic Johnny. "Now, in a couple of days, my JOHNNY'S PIZZA EXPRESS DELIVERY starts. I will have 2 cars that run to 2 am and the pizza comes within 20 minutes of you ordering. I want to be known for the best pizza and the fastest pizza delivery!"
      Okay, everybody. Grab your stopwatches!
Huge tasty pizzas with 31 varieties to choose from.Photo
The boss, Johnny, says that he worked for 15 years as the Pizza maker every hour of every day and now he has Pizzaiolos making the pizza, but he is stressed all the time, and likes to go back into making the pizzas himself sometimes.

"You know when you're always there and your mood sets the tone, when you're a super caring and friendly person the way I am, that carries to the guests. They feel that sincerity and I always made every pizza as perfectly as I could. I can say that I have a 4.8 to 4.9 rating on Trip Advisor and the rating of the Best Pizza in Prague. Yet, I know that is because I personally made the pizzas every day. As a boss, you have to go back in, the way I did yesterday, and make the pizzas!"

Yes, we have pineapple on the pizza, if you wish.   And for the hungry college kids, backpackers or moms and dads needing to grab a quick hot 3-minute slice, try Johnny's pizza bar Bistro at Kuobkova 16 in Prague 2. They have slices of Hawaii, Exclusive, Switches, Popey, Johnny, Bombay, Salman, California and on to a total of 30.
And the best: all slices are just 45 Cz crowns.
A fun international group is always coming and going in the Johnny Pizza Bistro and you can have a huge history lesson about the Balkan states and how they formed, at least I did! Learned a lot about the local young families and the college students from Serbia, while I waited for Johnny! Photo of prague
                                                                            MEAT VANDALS
                                                             Myslikova 172
Martin, the Boss, & his associate are fascinated with Pastrami!
Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken & Pulled Beef!
"Yes, we're the Meat Vandals," sighs Martin when I ask him why he has Ramen Noodle soup and Fish & Chips on the menu. "However, my partner, Vlasta, is a chef in two Michelin Restaurants in Prague and he is responsible for the menu. His fish & chips are the best in Prague, anywhere, hands down, and it is a privilege for us to serve these to you are a very low price, especially for fish & chips. And everybody loves our Lunch Ramen soup with meat. It's the highest quality, as is all of our items on the menu. We have had the 5 years, in and out of Covid years, to perfect our meat choices and we're very happy with it now."
It started at the Manifesto Market near the Florence Station in 2018.
They only had 3 items there: #1, #2, #11. Respectively, these were the #1 Pulled Pork with Cheddar Cheese & BBQ Sauce; the #2 Pulled Pork with Goat Cheese & Chili or Apple Sauce or Both!; and the #3 Classic Pastrami with Mustard Mayo & Sauerkraut. Inspired by Martin's trips to KATZ's FAMOUS Deli since 1888 in New York City. Now they have 15 items always & specials at lunch.
Well, we know that Vlasta is the Michelin trained chef with the incredible recipes and how about Martin?Photo of beer
Well, Martin is the founding partner of the Hedonism Spirit project that creates and shares the passion for first class spirits with the joy of discovering them, at least that is the bio on it! He does have world traveling experience and Prague distillery visits, so you're guaranteed an education and a fun tasting with Martin's Hedonism!
Yes that is the Ramen Noodle Soup!
Okay, New Yorkers, Martin LOVES Katz's in New York city and Thank God the prices are only 297 czech crowns for a Massive Marinated & Boiled Pastrami Brioche Sandwich at MEAT VANDALS instead of the $22.50 at KATZ's!
"We wanted some very good items that you can't find anywhere else in Prague, or at least the quality that we have. When we entered the Manifesto Market in 2018, we had exclusive the Pulled Pork, the first in Prague, and now we have the location here where we can make it even better. Same for our Pulled beef, chicken & Pastrami. I think we're the only ones who serve authentic NEW YORK DELI PASTRAMI in all of Prague!" Says Martin, who absolutely LOVES his Pastrami and Chef Vlasta's Specials at Lunch.
The two founding partners, Vlasta & Martin.
And just HOW FAMOUS is KATZ in New York? Let's check it out...

The BEER POINT of Prague: An Interactive Beer Pub
                                           located at:  Mezibranska 19
The Interactive BEER POINT of Prague is just waiting for you to come taste. The very innovative thing about BEER POINT is that you can grab a card in 10 different languages, place it on the beer you want to try, and just take a sip. If you like that beer, you can pour as much as you want; however, if you don't like it, you just go to the next one. They have 14 on tap at all times and at least 500 different small microbrewery beers in the lifetime of 6 years. I like it because you don't have to measure the beer. You can take 3 Czech crowns of a taste or 300 Czech crowns. It is up to you.
Craftbeers | Beerpoint | Hlavní Město PrahaAnd for Goodness' sake, turn the handle correctly or you'll have lots of foam. The first time you come in ask them to show you how to do it. And then have fun tasting all 14. After you taste each one, pick a couple favorites.
Denis, who is one of the owners, along with Marek who also owns the Beer Spa that is on my site, says, "We have pale ales, we have dark beers, we have lagers, Christmas beers, beers with cannabis. We have all types of beer. And every season we change these. About 3 times a week we change these too, depending on how busy we are. You can use the card and if you stay a couple of days, just bring it back and use it again. You'll have new beers in a couple of days!"

Anybody who owns a BEER POINT Pub has got to be fun to hang out with:

"It's all about the tasting of the CZECH Beer. If you want Pilsner, you can find it everywhere in Prague. Yet here it is very unique."
"I had the idea to introduce small breweries, all from Czech to the world. I have so many contacts with breweries now, but I had been in the beer and food business for 20 years, so I knew many of them before we opened."

"All the reps from the breweries come here and ask for me to try the beer. Which is great. It is fun to be introduced to new breweries, and I can let my guests enjoy the new beers."

Say hi to Marek. He likes to drink the beer.

If you're shipwrecked at sea, need to swim ashore
             but are just too tired.
                            Remember:
That BEER POINT Beer Card is                          waiting for you on the beach:

"Marek is involved in 4 different beer ventures. He loves the beer, but not nearly as much as I do. I am in charge of all of the beer that we feature, and I write all of the descriptions of the beer."
-Denis Genius of the BEER POINT

"I used to be a tour guide in Prague for gastronomy for 20 years and loved it. I came up with the idea before Covid to open the beer point because I had traveled to Paris and I loved the similar wine taps that they had. But I didn't want to have to measure it. I wanted it to be totally up to the guest to decide how much beer they wanted. So, it took us a long time to talk to the designers, the architects. I told them my vision, and they would ask me how big my place was, and I would say. I don't have a place yet! It was all done conceptually til we finally found the perfect place and opened 2 months before Covid."
Photo of pour your own beer
They do have ciders on tap, too. And non-alcoholic beers and ciders in the bottles. It is much more fun to play with the taps, though.
"We have nachos, small meat & cheese plates, small sausages, but I don't want to stress this. We're a pub to taste beer. If you want something to snack on, you can have it."

Okay, so you're done with work, you want to have a beer. Come and try the many varieties at BEER POINT.
You're traveling solo and you are done with your meetings? No problem.
Come make friends. With the beer.
Some people just want to taste Czech beers that are world famous, at least the reputation of the Czech beer is. And so is the consumption. Per capita, Prague has won year after year as the city with the most beers consumed per person.
                 So, there must be something
in the beer. Beer Point Prague | Prague
"What you see in the actual BEER POINT pub and what you see here in the picture are so miraculously similar. I worked with a design team and the concept they came up with was the picture here. Then I found the place, and we designed it. The taps and the interactive television is in my BEER PUB and even the arched design. It fits pretty much exactly as I had envisioned. I am very happy with it," Says Denis as he shows me around the pub and shows me how to pour the beer.
Fun for tourists and visitors around the world as the minute you place your card on the very high-tech plate, it instantly brings up the picture of the beer and the language of your card. If your from Spain, the card translates in Spanish; if you're from Italy, the info is in Italian. Quite genius, actually.
"We have special rates for groups, too. Which include 1 hour of unlimited tap beer and snacks. I have a lot of stag & hen groups, groups from England, Finland or Poland, for example. We love Americans. Tell your beer friends from America to come here," says Denis.
So, I call up OKTOBERFEST & tell them they all have to leave Germany and come to Prague!

Slatka Cesta Cafe located at:   Hartigova 2894/39

I walked towards Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock today about 10:20 am and saw a very quaint cafe. So, I thought, okay, let's have a coffee and start my morning. The young man, Matyas, brought me a beautiful cappuccino and told me how he practiced at least 200 times to make the design on the foam. "You must first start with milk that is 3.5% and it has to be cold. And you warm it up into foam and you make the cappuccino. Then you make the design with the foam on top of the foam. It takes many times to perfect it."
I asked Matyas if he drank all that coffee that he made mistakes on. He said, "No, I throw those mistakes away. If I drank every cup of coffee, I would have way too much caffeine it me!" True.
Sladká cesta Caffé & Bisto (Praha, Staré Město) • Firmy.cz
I only met Matyas, Verunka & Lukas.
"My mother started baking these cakes for neighbors and soon they were all coming over ordering cakes. My mom is very fun, and she said, "I am opening a cafe with my cakes." So, my dad is a carpenter, and he thought it a very good idea. He made the bar here and everybody decorated the cafe. And now, it is me as the director and I love my cafe," says Matyas.
My 212th design, apparently, on my cappuccino. Matyas says that he has another brother who runs the more modern decorated one located in Rohlicek with his girlfriend Jana.
"My middle brother who is 23 & Jana run the other one and I am the director of the one here. I love the one here because it is artsy and historical and my mom has made the art on the tables and the pictures. If people, ask me if they can buy the table with the art my mom made, I shall say yes if they give me $1 million American dollars!" Okay!

                  Loved the Picasso
                    design on the tables.

"My grandmother makes one of the treats which is the strudel. The other is a sweet that Czechs usually have at Christmas, yet a little smaller. My mom made that one up. The other cakes are either my mom's recipes or my girlfriend!" says Matyas.
The family of Grandmother Helen, Mother Jana, Father Petr, Lukas and Matyas and girlfriend Verunka run the lovely Sladka Cesta which means Sweet things. Lukas is only about 15 and says that on Saturday he heads to camp. But not a camp that usually American kids is age attend in the summer. "The camp is actually a kind of mock military camp where you have guns that don't shoot real bullets, yet you play on targets. In Czech, guns are illegal. Carrying a gun is illegal & carrying a knife is illegal. We're very safe here in Prague. I know in America it is quite different," Lukas says.
When I ask the brothers if they have found the life that they want, Matyas says "Yes" at the same time that Lukas says, "I am going to do something different." And yet when we ask Lukas what he is going to do he says that he is studying gastronomy with one of Czech's great chefs that is as well known as Gordon Ramsay!
WE LOVE you PILSNER. THANKYOU for SPONSORING EMMEANESBOOK of PRAGUE

Say Hi to Petr, the head Tapster, & David the Director
at the Pilsner Urquell Original Beer Experience.

When we got Pilsner, I thought, okay we're finally accepted from the Czech culture. I mean, it's PILSNER for God's Sake. THE BEER of CZECH. Actually, THE BEER of Europe if you're honest.  Think GUINNESS IRELAND, PILSNER EUROPE! The place is So big, yet it is rather deceptive because it just looks like a little cafe. Next to it is a big sign saying The Original Pilsner Tour and a very cool Merch store. But, once you come inside the place, it has many levels plus another huge, leveled space for the museum where you learn all about the World's first Golden Lager. And you can take the tour with the "Academy" added. That is another hour of learning how to tap the perfect lager.
All their bartenders are named "tapsters". They're trained in how to tap a keg and how to give you the very best experience. As much beer as you can drink as you learn to tap that perfect pint. Hint: Lidija the Director says that people make a lot of "mistakes" learning to tap and you can spend quite some time drinking your "mistakes!" Hahaha. Plus, you receive another 2 full beers at the end of the tour with a huge play room upstairs with a Czech restaurant. You can spend 1 hour or 5 hours. It is a very cool interactive museum with headphones for everyone to do the tour with each other, but on your own pace. Perfect.
Pilsner Urquell ExperienceLocated at: 28. října 377/13 on Wenceslas Square
Hey, you all come to Prague to taste the Pilsner. let's be honest. That is the real reason people come to Prague. That is the reason that in Mission Impossible Jim fell over the bridge...he liked the Pilsner beer a little too much. So, be careful when you're walking over the Charles Bridge after visiting the Pilsner Beer Pub Museum.
Okay, for us "O my God I can't drink Alcohol" for whatever reason. Pilsner now has at least 5 new fruity non-alcohol beers to drink, too. It is absolutely the best beer. Loved it.
Okay, a little secret, you can walk into the museum area and ask to walk upstairs to the beer taps and restaurant and you can have lunch and dinner and lots of beer. But I bet you that once you see how cool it is, you'll want to take the museum tour downstairs with your own headphones too. Just give it a chance. And when you do the tour, you're upstairs anyway drinking your free beer that comes with the tour.
Okay, how did she say to tap the keg again? Let's try it again for the 10th time. You know, I LOVE PILSNER BEER! And if you want to stay in the 1842-year-old Pilsner Beer Pub later you can do the Beer Sommelier Degustation 5 course meal that starts at 18:42 and lasts 1 hour and 42 minutes. S E R I O U S L Y!
5 fruity beers paired with 5 great dishes! Heaven.
The Beer Sommelier, Petr, said that he spent about 2 months just sitting at the upstairs round bar where they present the pairings for food and beer, tasting all kinds of dishes. "I drank a lot of beer when we first opened and added the degustation menu. I had to see what beers to highlight that Pilsner as a company owned, and what foods best pulled the flavor or complimented the flavor of the beers. I gained about 20 pounds during that time!"
Well, it is worth it because the pairings were exquisite, the food more than what you would eat for a full dinner, and the conversation with the other guests and the Beer Sommelier delightful. Lots of fun stories about the history of each of the breweries, too.

The reason L'Fleur has received the list of Top 50 Discovery Bars of the WORLD is easy to understand if you hear a story from Milos, the passionate owner of L'Fleur since its inception in 2015. The journey began way before that with his introduction to the land of Champagne Wineries while working for the esteemed pioneer bartender in Prague. He was sent to the land of Champagne and thought he would be "wowed" by the big prestigious centuries old houses of Champagne, but didn't find much difference in the taste of each.
"You know, I have learned that the big houses buy their grapes from other vineyards because of their large production and what they want is consistency from year to year. The smaller vineyards of 1 to 20 hectares are much more private in their production and use only the grapes that are on their lands. I now have over 350 cuvee or labels as you would say for wine. Most, but not all, come from small vineyards."
And while that is of interest to most people, that isn't the reason L'Fleur is top 50 in the world.
L' Fleur | CityBee
So, why is L'Fleur one of the top 50 Discovery Bars in the World? Because of such stories as Milos's passion of the pursuit of perfection in knowledge of Champagne.
"In the year of 2011, I started writing emails to Jerome Prevost, the small 2-hectare winemaker of La Closiere a very exclusive Champagne house. I wrote him 4YEARS! He never wrote me back!
So, after 60 emails, I drove to the land of Champagne, France, and I knocked on his door. His small shy wife answered and told me he had gone out. I ran to my car for my business cards and came back. The door was shut! I knocked again. Jerome Prevost opened the door, smiling, and said, "o yes, I know you!"
I guess after 4 years of emails, you DO get to KNOW people!

The El Gaucho Empire of 31 Exclusive Steak Restaurants has 4 in Prague, soon 5.
and let's face it; at a High-End Steak House, it's all about the Steak.
With locations at: CELETNA 988/38, Dejvicka 268/30Melantrichova 504/5, and the original at Dusni 905, you're sure to find one of these supreme Steak Houses near you.
And some special dates: August 5: 50% on every grilled steak/August 13: 50% on Ribeye.

The Philosophy of El Gaucho from the very beginning is having the highest quality of steaks served Argentina style. The Staff may seem invisible, but they appear quietly with a smile on their face, ready to serve you at just the right time. The emphasis in on Quality and Service.
When people see "Argentina" Steak House, they assume the beef is FROM Argentina, but it is a cooking style that El Gaucho emulates. Grilling the beef and letting the savory essence of the beef capture your attention. No fancy sauces or spices. Just natural good flavor. The beef is from America and Australia because that is where the best beef comes from. And Wagyu from Japan, with a certificate that tells when the steer is born and when it came to the end of the 350 days of grain feeding. To add it delicately.
All the kitchens are designed the same. And you would love to eat a steak cooked by the team. Super professional and transparent with Modern Chrome kitchen equipment and Sterile Clean White surfaces. The tables near the kitchen are always taken first becasue people love to see their steak cooked in front of them! At least that is what the Director tells me.
And do we have wine: Italian, French, Spanish; what is a great steak house without the wine?

Romantic Ideas: Beef Filet with Golden Caviar topped for starters with Jumbo Green Asparagus Grilled and El Gaucho's homemade bread made daily with their imported Olive oil & homemade truffle sauce; Very nice bottle of Italian Red Wine; And a sharing of the El Gaucho's Chef Selection of Carpaccio Spanish Red Shrimps and Garlic Chili Tiger Prawns. If you want more decadence for date night opt for the Caramelized Creme Brulee.
I had the pleasure of meeting with the Prague Location's director, Nathan, whose brother Dani Himi owns all of the 31+ Steak Houses.
"Dani opened and developed his first one in Vietnam. He saw interest in the Big American Steaks and loved the Argentina style of cooking. So, he opened one in Saigon and soon the business boomed. They now are very well known in Vietnam, Philippine's, Germany, and Thailand.
Although Nathan designed the kitchen at the first location of Dusni, 3-1/2 years ago, he says that Dani, the owner keeps a very tight rein on all of the details of running the 31 restaurants around the world.
All of the directors in each of the restaurants send him pictures daily of the food being served and let him know about the taste testing that they personally do every day. I had the pleasure of sitting in on a taste testing, and the Rib Eye is the favorite of the entire staff for a reason. The Australian Beef was excellent, too.
When I first saw Caviar on the menu, I thought, wow it is a very expensive Steak House. And while Steak is expensive anywhere you order it, the Beef Tartare with Golden Caviar on top is a must starter. It is a special night, so you might as well order the duo or quattro filet and taste each one! While they specialize in the best steaks available, they're team of chefs can whip up some very good pasta and fish dishes, too.

Elegance, Sophistication, Amazing Vision from Dani Himi and Consistency make El Gaucho the success that it is to serve their guests with the most gracious hospitality.
Breaking Bread: El Gaucho Seizes the Throne
The Golem Restaurant is located exactly as pictured in the street painting inside. He stands guard as he did in the 16th century and you literally feel the protection and coziness as you dine.
Gabby says, "My Golem Restaurant is a fusion of Kosher and Czech. I have original recipes that I have created with traditional Czech food but with a fusion twist." Image
                                                                   Located at: Maiselova 62/8
Mary Shelley is said to have used the Golem for her inspiration of Frankenstein!
And Gabby says, "She was actually eating my Hummus when she got the inspiration for Frankenstein story!" Hahaha.

"I want everybody to feel comfortable here. All people are welcome to my restaurant," says Gabby.
The Golem Restaurant in the Jewish Quarter of Prague is owned the last 3-1/2 years by a very passionate boss named Gabriela. He prefers to be called Gabby.  And when he starts talking about the myth of the Golem of Prague, he is so enthusiastic about the fable that you are completely captivated.
So, here is the Legend: Rabbi Loew ben Bezalel, who is a 16th century Rabbi in Prague made the huge Golem from river clay. He made the Golem who stood as tall as the streetlamps, to protect the Jewish people living in the Jewish Quarter.
The enemies were scared to come near because Golem was so intimidating and is said to come alive with a card the Rabbi inserted into Golem with the name of God. On his forehead reads: Emet-Truth.
According to Gabby, "One night on Shabbat the Golem stood guard and the people complained the Golem was working on Shabbat, which is not allowed. The Rabbi took Golem up to the attic of the Synagogue and took out the card, so the Rabbi made Golem inactive, and he has stayed in the attic ever since; ready to defend the Jewish Quarter again, if needed."
It is one of the few times I have eaten at a Kosher restaurant, and I must tell you; the food is amazing.     When people say Kosher, what exactly does this mean: the animal is slaughtered with shechita, the animal must chew its cud and have split hooves to be considered acceptable, and the Rabbi sometimes will oversee the restaurant to make sure it is kosher compliant. Milk cannot be present in a Meat Restaurant and Meat cannot be present in a Milk restaurant. The kitchens must be separate. If they do have dairy, it is vegan dairy.
"Now I have an international team. A couple of my staff are Muslim, and they really enjoy the Kosher kitchen. It is very similar to their Halal but I kid them and say the only difference is ours taste better!" There is Gabby joking again!
The place is very cozy and inviting and you are welcome to come use your laptops and write that novel! Writers, Artists, Poets, Musicians, Actors are all Welcome to come and create.
"I deeply believe the legend of the Golem and because I am so close to the Jewish Synagogue, the 2nd oldest active synagogue in the world, I have made a Kosher kitchen out of the 58-year-old restaurant," says Gabby. "I used to have a Kosher certified Restaurant in Prague before the pandemic, which simply means that it isn't open on Saturday to observe the Shabbat nor is it open on Jewish holidays. Here we have a Kosher kitchen only."
My Dinner last night: the Creamiest Hummus I have ever tasted with falafel balls. I had some spicy pickles with oil and some medium spicy pickles with olives and all homemade. Seriously perfectly made. Loved it all.
Gabby tells me, "I had a couple of friends here who were used to eating the traditional Muslim hummus, which is different than the Jewish Kosher hummus. They asked what the difference was before they ordered, and I told them that mine is good!"     We start laughing. Gabby likes to tell jokes, I think.

"I am a Kosher Distributor, so my wine I can import directly from Israel. My beef is of the excellent grade as my ingredients. I am very selective, and I serve other restaurants in Prague, so I have to have the highest standards for myself as well for others."
One of the very unusual items on Gabby's menu is the fish. He has several outstanding options, so please come & grab one!
In a Kosher restaurant, the flours, yeast and salt must be kosher to be used to make the bread. It tastes delicious. Come on, what are you waiting for!
The Back Room of The Golem Restaurant is full of photos of the owner and family since 1967.
There are photos of Karl Gott, who is a famous singer from the old fun times of Prague and he used to visit the restaurant all the time. It was a state owned and run restaurant during Communism and was the first restaurant during that time in the Jewish Quarter.
It is a nostalgic room and one that makes me both sentimental and sad. I love sitting eating a Czech dinner here imagining the conversations of the good old days when people actually talked about life together.
And this one is for OZZY OSBOURNE & Sharon from HARD ROCK CAFE

Everybody loves a "HARD ROCK CAFE", right? The Head Chef of the Prague location created the Bohemian Legend Burger as a tribute to Czech cuisine. Let's all head on down to Old Town Square right next to the famous Clock Tower and dig right in!  We are sad to say that the Bohemian didn't make the top 5, but New York and Miami have made it so start ordering these burgers so Miami can win.

In Addition to all the music, the glamour and the burgers, the Sales and Marketing Director of Hard Rock Prague, Gabriela loves to help her community.   Gabriela has been involved with the Sales and Marketing of Prague Hard Rock many years now, and she definitely sees Hard Rock Cafe as an opportunity for letting the big Giant promote Prague.  She sees that Hard Rock is dominant in as many events that are socially responsible as she can and makes sure that Hard Rock Cafe is actively involved in SPONSORING events in the community such as Pinktober Charity Campaign for Breast Cancer Throughout October. Hard Rock Cafe Prague will participate in fundraising efforts that will support the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer this year.
"We are very active in the educational system of Prague, at all levels and partner with events and gatherings outside of Hard Rock and here inside Hard Rock," says Gabriela. "And, of course, we listen to our business community and we all work with each other. Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and we, at Hard Rock, are very happy to have it as our base."

The place is massive and has the only Guitar Shaped Chandelier in the World. Hey! It's Hard Rock Cafe, what do you expect? The best part of Hard Rock, well it is "hard to say". Whether you love walking around the multi-level restaurant and checking out the Musician's memorabilia or trying to catch a Musician on tour who happens to be coming to play on stage at Hard Rock; here you will find something for everybody.
And if you're lucky enough to have my server, the one and only DENIS, you'll be happily entertained. Notice the Guitar pins, the FLAIR, on his outfit.
"Everybody at Hard Rock can choose their own flair, and I love Guitars. I collect the guitars from around the world in the Hard Rock Cafes. Every year we have a meeting here in Prague and all of the servers from every Hard Rock is invited to come and swap Flair. I have a couple of my guitars from these meetings!" says Denis. I promise to mail him a Chicago Hard Rock Guitar!

Are these great burgers or what!?
For all of the Mick Jagger fans out there, they have some very intimate pictures of him in Prague on his 60th birthday, and he has his birthday on my friend, Vienna's birthday which is July 26.
You know, at Hard Rock in Prague they only have the small artists, like KISS Jean Simmons, or Mick Jagger or the legendary Ozzy Osbourne, or WHO or Eric Clapton.
"Please feel free to wander around the Hard Rock on all of its levels and take pictures of the memorabilia. That is what it is for. To honor the musicians, of course, and to give their fans an upfront look at all of their costumes, musical instruments and nostalgia associated with them," says Gabriela.
HEY WHO is that guy and Who does he think he is inventing his own HARD ROCK CAFE BURGER?
Well, they know him in Barcelona, that is a given and now here in lovely Miami

Live Music, Dancing, Great cocktails & Great Food, who could ask for more? Well, what about the Merch? Hard Rock wins around the world for the classiest Merchandise and while the Hard Rock Cafe itself is open from 11:00 am to 2:00 am, the Merch store opens early at 10:00 am every day and closes at 11:00 pm, so no excuses!
And of course, Hard Rock Cafe's famous cocktails, especially important on World Cocktail Day...yes of course it's real. The Very Talented Prague Bartender.
Good things come in chilled glasses - Happy World Cocktail Day! 🍹
I almost forgot why Hard Rock Cafe is so very cool around the world until I entered the Prague Hard Rock. It is so cool, so huge, so much music memorabilia, but it wasn't until I met the Sales Director, Gabriela, that I fell in love with Hard Rock again.

The Lovely Couple, Marta & Goran, Who Own KOGO ITALIAN Restaurant in Prague.
Please visit & be welcomed into the fusion of Mediterranean & Italian culinary dishes
located at: Kogo Havelská, Havelská 499/27

Sometimes in the darkest moments creation arrives, miracles happen & resilience, hope, & the human spirit thrive to continue on. Such is the story of one man during the Yugoslavian war.

   01. 05. 1995 A young man from Bosnia enters Prague, opens a restaurant, meets a young Czech girl and 30 years later...Story

"For Goran, I would say that the clients are his joy. He loves to visit from table to table and meet his guests. If he sees friends, he sits with the guests and talks and they do business or just visit. For me, I love my guests, of course, but I would say that it is the joy of serving good food in a good atmosphere to bring joy to my guests. It is about hospitality. Whether you're a friend already or someone who is coming for the first time, we welcome you warmly. The Italians have a saying that "it is the joy of food." That is the same for me," says Marta on her vision of her restaurant. "And it is Goran's restaurant. He just allows me to participate!" she says. Photo of shrimp
"I don't really cook Czech food at home. Traditionally, it is very heavy, and I have a son who is starting his football career. He checks all of his carbs and proteins every day, so I have to cook very healthy for him!" she laughs.
"Here at the restaurant is Italian food. It does have a Mediterranean flair to it as all of our cooks are from Bosnia, so I would say a light fusion of Italian. But mostly in the way they cook the pasta with a light olive oil so that the Italian feel is a lighter version. We have a very good selection of seafood and of meat. Our clients regularly tell us we have the best seafood in Prague," she says.

So, the story goes. A deeply romantic story and yet when meeting the team at 11:00 am, who were all gathered in the cobblestoned enclosed alley that separates the two sides of Kogo, I felt immense happiness. I actually have never felt such a happy team. They have an incredibly elegant and sophisticated restaurant, 30 years of being one of the best restaurants in Prague, and indeed the very first fine dining after the communist years in the country, and yet they're the most down-to-earth couple and team that I have had the pleasure of interacting with.
Goran peeked inside his restaurant through one of the many floor-to-ceiling windows to check out what this stranger was doing walking around it while they were all huddled outside. When I said that I am a journalist he smiled, laughed and yelled, "Marta."
I soon found out that Marta is his elegant beautiful blonde Czech wife who pretty much directed the restaurant and its team while Goran sat down and made deals with his many clients. Photo of food and wine
"I am Czech, and I met Goran when he first started the restaurant, and I worked here as a server. Ironically, only I and one other woman were servers and the rest men. Over the years, we have only had us two as women servers. The entire team is men. And except for 2 women in the kitchen; men. We have a lot of business clients from many years, and the atmosphere is professional and courteous. Respectful and proper, I would say, but the Bosnian men are very warm whereas the Czech men are a little more reserved. I noticed that when I first started working here. It is definitely a cultural thing."
The same guys that I served alongside are now working for me. We're all a team and I would say that they don't look at me as a boss. I mean sometimes they listen to me-" She stops, and we both start laughing. I hope so, I say, as she is the boss.
"Yes, but I make suggestions, yet they've been with us for 30 years. So, they're merely suggestions. I feel part of the team."

"Usually, people talk about opening their own culinary dream, searching a year or two for the perfect spot, saying yes then thinking about it. Us? My friend called me and said he found a great location, and we should open a restaurant. He was doing culinary work in Norway about 10 years, and I was directing a couple ventures in Prague, including La Finestra. I said, okay, and 2 weeks later the paperwork is signed, and the restaurant is opened!" says Eujene.
Move over Gordon Ramsay...SIU's Beef Wellington is the best!
SIU Restaurant"The very nice item about our restaurant is that locals come here. All hours of the day and they serve breakfast to 3PM. It is hidden near the Charles Bridge next to the famous Czech pub Lokal, but away from the noise. It has very high-quality fresh sea bass, sea brill, Tilapia which is pictured here, & the Beef Wellington looks identical to the photo," says Eujene.
"Martin does the menu. He has a very exotic flair to his main dishes including
Piemont beef baked in the sea salt crust, which I think is quite unique here in Prague. We don't have Czech food. We have an INTERNATIONAL MENU."
The restaurant is romantic and elegant. It has food of fine dining quality at reasonable prices. For instance the Tilapia is for 2 persons at around 54 Euros. That is amazing. The Beef Wellington at around 37 Euros. I would love to see Gordon Ramsay come to taste their Beef Wellington. These 2 friends are very easy-going guys and Eujene laughs when I say that theirs would win. "It's about quality and presentation that is important to us. And about value. I want people to feel comfortable with us and not think of us as a "touristy" restaurant. We aren't a "touristy" restaurant. We are a very good, high-quality restaurant," he says.       SIU Restaurant

                                                Georgia Gruzie
Gruzie Restaurant |Restaurace Praha 1| The best Georgian Restaurant in Prague
The best Georgian Restaurant in Prague is beautiful inside aesthetically and rated as high as you can be in terms of Czech Life Standards, a Michelin style guide for the Czech Republic.
At the top is David Smidek, the delightful Director of Georgia Gruzie
Do you ever walk into a place; whether it be a restaurant you immediately fall in love with or some vacation destination, a 5-star hotel or charming boutique & just say, O My God I hope I can stay here & experience all that they have to offer?
I do. The minute I walked into the darkly lit, heavily timbered, many leveled luxurious Georgian authentic restaurant, I fell in love. I said "O, O my God. It is beautiful." When I met David, pictured above, he asked if I would follow him around the many levels and rooms to experience the feel of the Georgian culture. I followed and each room is adorable. They have one room that is hidden, and it has many paintings from the Georgian artist, Niko Pirosmani, who only became famous after his death. Many say he is the protagonist for the Georgian famous song, Million Roses.  David laughs & says, "They say that he only painted when he was drunk. That is why the paintings are so simple." I actually really like his paintings & say that I would love to own one. "For about $100,000 you can," says David. So, think I shall just eat in the hidden room with the Georgian pillows on the benches and look at them.
"The Georgian food is meant to be shared. We have very huge portions, so they can be ordered as tapa style, if you want to share each dish with everybody at the table. But to eat several yourself would be a challenge. By sharing, you can experience all of the textures and tastes of the Georgian fare," says David.
GRUZIE RESTAURANT, Prague - Stare Mesto (Old Town) - Menu, Prices & Restaurant Reviews - Tripadvisor
It is soo beautiful in the Georgian restaurant full of fur lined animal skins and memorabilia from an era gone by. You feel the history of the Georgian people as you walk from room to room. Or if you come on Friday, Saturday or Sunday you can have the dancers dance past your table.
And of course we can't forget the famous shish kabob, of which Georgian culture is very famous for. They actually name it the dish of kings. A variety of the very highest quality of chicken, pork. beef, veal or lamb. Beautifully prepared over the open fire in front of you in the brick hearths that remind you of a 18th century kitchen.
I would love to try the Ckmeruli which is Chicken cooked in milk and garlic and baked in a traditional clay pot. Georgian Food: That You Should Try in Tbilisi | Georgia Travel
Or one of the traditional Chacapuri round breads with cheese inside and outside. Some of the dishes are very spicy, so ask. You can always drink lots of Georgian wine, of which there are about 500 grapes and they were grown between 5000 BC and 7000 BC. The Mukuzani wine is best served with cheese and game, for instance. Or try the straw like color of light fruity wine, Tsinandali. Most I haven't heard of so it would be fun to order something very spicy and try a couple of wines to help you out!    GRUZIE RESTAURANT, Prague - Stare Mesto (Old Town) - Menu, Prices ...

They have authentic Georgian Dancers on the weekends, so as you sit at the tables or the bar or the many layered levels with wooden chairs and pillows for comfort tucked under the stairways or in other little alcoves, you can experience both romance, intrigue, curiosity and incredible food from the Russian era of Georgia history. See the warm lovely animal furs? Gorgeous.
So, tell us, Jaromir, what exactly is The Beer Spa?
Original Beer Spa - official website | beerspa.com

Everybody around the world shall now know Mr. Jaromir Pazout, the innovative & charming creative owner of Prague's Original Beer Spa. Born out of one of Jaromir's ventures: a small, elegant hotel where he & his partner decided to make use of a room not being used, but perfect for their idea of a luxury spa. The idea eventually evolved to be a Beer Spa.
And in Jaromir's own words:"I had been the Senior Controller of the 5-star Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Prague many years & went on to work for a company Bookassist that provides the e-commerce hospitality software & solutions for over 2000 hotels in Europe. I knew many people in Czech Republic & abroad & knew the industry very well," says the very accomplished co-founder of the Amazing Beer Spa.
"I wanted a luxury spa. And when the idea hit us to do a beer spa, after researching many of these, we knew that we could elevate it. But we weren't prepared for all of the roadblocks that came our way. From Pilsner telling us that no way would they give us beer for our guests to bath it-which we weren't asking for, just the hops & yeast to give smooth baby skin baths; but they couldn't grasp our concept. We went to Krusovice, but they said they had contracts & all of their hops were being utilized. On & on. So, we finally contacted a small farmer who agreed to give us land specifically for us to grow our hops on. That took us about 6 months. Then you have the hot water for the tubs. Then you have the water systems to fill the tubs with clean water at 37 degrees in 2 minutes and drain these in 20 seconds! Then you have to have a heated elevated floor, which we have to make ourselves, then you have to have the right height of the room, then you have to have a heating system to direct the heat outside. It tooks us 3 years from original idea to final opening. And yes it is worth it. I am so much happier now than in the corporate world," says Jaromir. "I have a family & I can spend time with my family & although we have many requests for franchises, I want it to be special & keep with the Czech spirit. So, we'll see."
I had the privilege of filming the beginning process of the hops & yeast being mixed in the buckets that eventually the receptionist will pour into your beautifully handcrafted oak tubs. They fill the tubs with 37-degree water, clean of course for each reservation, & when you enter the room, they add the buckets that will be mixed in the tubs for you to enjoy. Jaromir says, "I would soak in the tubs & I wouldn't personally take a shower. The mixture gives your skin a baby softness that people have traveled as far as Dubai to experience. I had a company in Qatar wanting to do a franchise for their royal family, but it was quite funny, because they would say, but we can't have the alcohol, we can't have this, or that! Ultimately, it wasn't a beer spa any longer!" You, know, Qatar, now they do have non-alcoholic beer, so maybe you should revisit! No alternative text description for this image
Romantic Rooms where you sit in a beautiful oak tub filled with hops & yeast, drink unlimited Heineken's Krusovice from the taps attached to each tub & enjoy a private 1 -2 hours with your partner. What more could you ask for? Want more friends? They have group rooms, too, for special parties: ultimately, it is about reconnecting in an elegant private setting with people close to you, letting the hops & yeast make your skin baby soft & having a great time. Every person that I saw come to the spa entered with curiosity & left with a huge smile on their face!
They have 3 locations now and the 1 featured above is the largest room. They have many requests for franchises, but Jaromir says that he wants to make sure that the beer spa remains a luxury spa. If the request is too far away, such as America, he says it is too far for him to manage & he worries about the authenticity. Perhaps in the future. But for right now he wants to spend time with his family. The corporate world he has left behind & he is very happy with his smaller intimate venture. With so many awards that he has already won, I wonder if saying we all wish him luck is after the fact, but we wish you luck, Jaromir!
Image
So, now when you come to visit Prague, along with the required Black Light Theater, the Stone Statues on the Charles Bridge, the many varieties of Czech beer & the beautiful Czech Palace, you must add the Original Beer Spa where you can leave Prague with a smile on your face & baby soft skin! It is with pleasure that I add Jaromir to the list of entrepreneurs who have shared their stories & teams with me & the world. Including Mr. Armani in his fashion documentary of Milan last year. "That's it," he says. And ultimately when you reach the top: That's it!
Why do we have an original Italian family of 3-generations on the Prague category of EmmeAnesBook? Because they've been here giving tourists and locals the best Italian food from Naples since 1993, and they're literally 1 minute walk from the Prague famous clock tower square.
Right down the alley from Starbucks at Melantrichova 465
Le Cinque Corone & Pizzeria Pulcinella

Pictured below is the beautiful outside seating area of the two Pizzerias, which share the same kitchen. As you see in  the photo ABOVE is the famous son, Carmine Jr., and Marco who is one of the brothers. Actually, Marco is the uncle of Carmine and quite proud of the fact that Carmine received the #2 AWARD for BEST PIZZA MAKER in all of EUROPE of 2024 competition.
Ya, so that is why they're featured here on the Prague section. A must for Italian food.
"You know the people come here and if they're tourists they ask us which restaurant is better," says Marco. Yet, being Italian, he starts using his hands, "but the locals. the ones who come here all the time say that they like the food or the pizza better at Le Cinque Corone or they like the pizza better at Pizzeria Pulcinella. I say it is the same kitchen. It is the EXACT SAME PIZZA! But they say, no it tastes better at Pulcinella!" He makes the famous Italian sign with his 4 fingers and thumb. "Ahh..." Yes, it is the same menu. The same pizza. But the atmosphere is different. Pulcinella is a local replica inside of Naples. Adorable and Le Cinque Corone is modern. So perhaps it is the atmosphere or perhaps it is team. Each team is different. So, it is a perception.
"The Naples inspired kitchen is the youngest generation's passion, "says Domenico, who barely speaks English and is originally from Italy. "He loves the kitchen, he loves to create, he loves his pizza and he eats all the time," he says. And it shows in the awards that he wins in the #1 pizza chef of Prague and #2 in ALL OF EUROPE.
Marco says that his father, who Carmine is named after, loved the place so much that in 1993 he had the first pizza restaurant and in 2000 he bought the one next door. They share the same kitchen. When I ask Marco if the pizza is Naples's style or what we all think of when we think of pizza, he says that they have both. The typical style Naples is a must to try if you don't think you'll make it to that beautiful city here is your chance!
Above is the VERY BEAUTIFUL and kind wife of Angelo and the Capo Marco. They are Italian. From Naples. They speak Italian and a little English. You will love the family. And the food, of course.  They have great pasta, too, but it is the sincere kindness, humor and warmth of the family that I love.
Below is Angelo in the middle with Domenico on his right side. On his left is Tatiana, another server who works with Domenico, and Andrea, a friend who kept accidently getting in all of the pictures, so we had him pose as one of the team. Angelo is the father, of twins, one of which is Carmine and his sister works at the restaurant too. Angelo's wife is pictured above with Marco. Yes, I know, but it is an Italian working family, so good luck corralling all of the lively conversationalists at one time together! I had to chase each one and grab a camera.
Myslis Micro Brewery Bar & Burlesque! at Skorepka 3
I haven't quite seen anything like the eclectic bar named Myslis anywhere else in my travels. It is difficult to describe. It is number one a Micro-Brewery Bar. "We've had about 500 beers on the kegs in the last 5 years, I would imagine," says Otakar, who is pretty much the director of the bar, along with his friend and partner, Lukas, who is the chef. O, and it is Vegan. With light Vegan tapa snacks at night to fit with the bar. It has about 100 plants hanging everywhere, I counted them. Old newspapers from the 1988 era of communism that Otakar says his uncle gave to them to paper the walls and the sides of the bar. Vintage wooden retro furniture.
Yet when Otakar says, "O and we have Burlesque tonight at 8pm." I wonder where they will put the show, let alone the people coming to it. "In the basement," he says. So, we mosey down to the basement where they have Open mic, Burlesque, Comedy, Drag Shows, you name it and they have it. Very Eclectic Bar; Myslis.
"If a beer's keg is empty, I just substitute the line with a new one. I personally love the IPAs that we have tonight," says Otakar pointing to the #8 and #9. "Most of the time, now that the micro-breweries know us, they come to us. They bring flights & have us taste each beer and that is usually how we pick the new ones now. Sometimes we do visit the brewery and in the past we visited a lot of breweries and drank a lot of beer, " Otakar laughs. I say I would be an alcoholic if I owned the bar because you could taste new beers every day. "Pretty much," he says laughing.
As you can see, the place is very unique in its decorations. I found it of interest that it has only Vegan food and while Otakar says that he isn't Vegan himself, his partner Lukas is and since Lukas is the chef, that is the bar nibbles that you receive. It is actually a perfect fit for the decor, though, because the bar has so many contrasts and people immediately feel at home.
The newspapers are from the Communistic era of Prague and are plastered on the walls. They have games for you to play if you feel like just relaxing with friends or if you feel like joining one of the varied shows in the basement, they usually start at 8pm and they cost 200CZK.

The location is key: right behind the FlixBus Main Bus Station in Prague, so when you're very tired from that long bus ride, a little tentative about a new city and where to find your hostel, book The Drunken Monkey Hostel and just walk from the buses about 100 meters to your hostel.
I first met Will, the original creator of the Drunken Monkey Pub Crawls, perhaps the first ever in Prague, in 2012. He looks the same, except perhaps a little more polished and without the long wild golden hair that reminded me more of his Australian partners than a Martha's Vineyard American, but he definitely had that party air to him. DRUNKEN MONKEY BAR CRAWL - Updated June 2025 - 20 Reviews - U Milosrdných 4, Praha, Czech Republic - Bar Crawl - Phone Number - Yelp
Now he has traded in his Viking Horn Helmut for a sophisticated short do and business-like demeanor. Well, we all grow up a little, except perhaps for Peter Pan, but I imagine with him still at the helm of the Pub Crawl and Party Boat, along with his new ideas for the Hostel, he still has plenty of more party years left.

Okay What Do Katy Perry and I have in common! People ask me that all the time. We both came and visited the CHOCO TOPIA HUGH GRANT Willy Wonka Factory here at Prague where families can come and do interactive candy making and Katy's favorite 'THE MAKE A CAKE and Throw a Cake at All Your Friends in Hazmat Suits in the Cake Throwing Room." Okay, honestly, I just learned all there is to learn about the process of making chocolate the last 650 years and ate A LOT OF Chocolate! But the Cake Throwing Room complete with a hose and water drain seemed pretty cool.   Okay, ready everybody to learn all about the real Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory in Prague?
Emme Smith (@emmenuele) • Threads, Say moreYes so Katy Perry wasn't so complimentary about having cake inside her nose from friends throwing their creations at each other; however, it is a great experience and a better team building outing. Me, however, would be either eating my cake or pushing it in my significant other's face!

Yes, the handprints are real chocolate, of course. Hey it is Willy Wonka, what do you expect! I literally walked away with 19 different boxes/packages of chocolate varieties. Enough to feed me and my chocoholic friends months! Less of course it is Forest Gump then you never know what kind of chocolates you were going to get...
The aristocrats of England used to drink the pure Cocoa liquid that looks like thick chocolate, yet you must add sugar yourself. Problem back then is that men had moustaches and beards. So, of course the moustache cocoa cup is invented. PS Hugh Grant is ABSOLUTELY LOVELY, uh-oh, is it the "Absolutely Lovely" comment or the "Hugh Grant" comment that is giving anxiety?
Life is Like A Box of Chocolates here with Forest Gump at Prague's Chocolate Museum!
CHOCO TOPIA  and the Chocolate Museum of Prague!
Everybody loves Chocolate, right? WE DO TODAY is my 3rd year of the sweet life
in Prague where people from around the world come to learn about the history of chocolate, take chocolate making classes and most importantly eat the chocolate!
I actually took the chocolate class and got to make my own little chocolate figures and I ate tons of chocolate and that made me very happy.
It is supposed to be very serious and a historical depiction of the evolution of chocolate. The infallible cocoa bean. The Conquistadors traveling from Spain to bring back the coveted chocolate, yet you can have fun here too.
Henk Mestdagh is like Willy Wonka, literally.      He has a chocolate plantation in Yucatan Penisula in Mexico where he has converted a entire village and helped about 65 locals help farm the cocoa planation and that is where they harvest the cocoa, he has a Chocolate Utopia in Brussels and Belgium seaside, Paris, and here in Prague where he has the store and  the museum. "I love chocolate, the Aztec culture and the Mayan culture and wanted to introduce the real chocolate and it's origins to the world." he says the first time I met him about 3 to 4 years now.       (the chocolate classes)
Maria says, "Henk is opening Provincie on the way from Prague if you drive to Bruno so it should be one of the largest factories of chocolate in the world where children can come and see how they make the Candy." Cool I say just the way the American children everyday love to go to Hershey chocolates in Pennsylvania!
However, I must say, looking at some of the chocolates on display for fun, I felt more like Diane Weiss in the movie BIRDCAGE, "Honey, grab my glasses. Are their dancing boys on the chocolates?" Something for everyone here at the Chocolate Factory in Prague!
Where with the help of my Chocolate maker, Jacob, I got to make 4 bars of chocolate with any toppings I chose. After you wander through the Museum where you can taste every type of chocolate...have I mentioned that section of the journey is unsupervised? So be prepared if you have no discipline to have a upset stomach of eating WAAAYYY too much chocolate.
Jacob is a student at the University studying banking and finance and says he has fun with the tourists helping each one make their special chocolate creation!
Muzeum čokolády Praha - Choco Story

Here above you can pretty much help yourself, and to the left is Jacob. As you see the little jars, and the chocolate cocoa bean pod near the jars. Each pod can hold up to 5 jars of cocoa beans inside it when you open these up. Pretty cool huh? The chocolate is just like at Willy Wonka with a constant fountain of milk chocolate and white chocolate in Jacob's laboratory and I ask if he eats too much chocolate everyday? He smiles and waits for a second, "Yes I do." Smiling the entire time!
A very cool club underneath the SteamPunk elegant cocktail lounge, connected underground to the Sophisticated Champagne Bar L'Fleur is open from 9:00pm to 3:00am-4:00am-5:00am etc. A very fun night at Christmas time allegedly Sasha Spielberg & me danced the night away with American soldiers flying in from the base in Poland. Supposedly allegedly, yet the night is difficult to remember when you dance 3 hours amoungst Santas and elves & people dressed up as presents...enough said.

Upstairs is all elegance, and it reminds a person of the gatekeepers at the Playboy Mansion, you know, the girls at the door saying,"You got an invite buddy?" Although it is a walk-in bar and everybody is welcome, well, you know the feeling. I mean unless you are the type that really does have an invite, then you wouldn't know the feeling; however, after 9:00pm the downstairs dance club is a totally different story. Everybody is invited and it is wild fun. Steampunk Prague – Jedinečné zážitky v centru prahy They totally love themed bars and parties in Prague, I don't know the reason, yet the downstairs club is always huge ornaments and tinsel at Christmas time with Santas and Elves serving you drinks and even when it wasn't Christmas time, they didn't really bother to take down the decorations, so I am not sure what decor you will find, but it is tons of fun, so try it anyway.Steampunk Prague | Prague Nightlife Ticket

Welcome to Mincovna, which is located on the famous Clock Tower Square in Prague, Czech Republic.
Good to know the team loves the beer, too

Since the Czech people can claim that they consume more beers per person than any other country in the world, as usual, Libor sticks to tradition and the historical significance with presenting Pilsner as his choice of local Czech beer. Famous around the world and from the city of Pilzen, Pilsner is a delightful light beer that I personally love, too. Restaurace Mincovna - Staromestske nam. 7 P-1 | Music instruments, Drums, Instruments

Strašnická mincovna Prague - rozvoz jídla & menu - foodora.cz Say hi to Libor, the big boss of the lovely Micovna in Prague. Located at: Staroměstské náměstí 930/7,    http://www.restauracemincovna.cz/ , the one thing that you will notice immediately upon entering the beautiful restaurant besides the lively and loud conversation of the local Czech people mingling with tourists from around the world, is the stunning interior design. Libor bought the restaurant and wanted to keep the history of the building intact for visitors.. Since it was the old Mint, he has framed pictures along with old mint machines in the restaurant and it is rather fun to walk around admiring the handy work. Opposite the Clock Tower Square is the Hard Rock Cafe, so whether you love browsing for famous quitars or a little bit of money history, you can find it here all within walking distance.                                                  Restaurace Mincovna - Czech Restaurant in Prague

Libor has three restaurants and each one he lovingly keeps to the tradition of the historic building such as the mint house here transformed to the Mincovna Restaurant. Where his chef creates from old traditional Czech cookbooks with modern presentations and huge portions, Libor uses the structure and old mints from the 18th and 19th century on drawings and in sculptures.  Plus Pilsner is in the house with domestic wines!
The Wine list is extensive especially if you want to try some Czech wines and of course since they're famous for the beer, well here is a very cool bar to have a drink at.

The Prague Boats run from morning to night, which I believe the last ones are around 22.00pm. I had much fun many years eating and drinking on the Bohemian Rhapsody and the Dinner Cruises and 3 years since we partied with 10 LG CEOs from India, stationed in Doha Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and India, all partying on the river cruise. The India nation loves my website I guess since Samsung and LG, two very big tech companies are headquartered in that nation and they love to use it around the world. They invited me to sit with the group and have much fun conversation and wine and food. Last night I had the night sightseeing cruise that basically takes you back and forth from the dock to the bridge and gives architectual history lessons to its guests on the boat!
